I know I'll get flamed....
That place should have been shut down a long time ago. All the stuff that goes on there is insane. If anyone has ever rode there and you look at how many cars are just burnt up there, it's rediculous. No one wears a helmet or has a flag. Everyone (or close to everyone) is drinking and driving. It's just a HUGE danger. It's gotten to the point where *I* don't even want to ride there...
That place is crazy on a sat/sun...

I don't think that spot was ever legal in the first place, and I seriously doubt those signs will stop anyone in Miami from riding the area. They work for me, but it is a haul from here.
Why do you care if people don't wear helmets, and the terrain really doesn't make a flag necessary IMO.

Can anyone tell me when and where a march is going to take place. I live in Homestead and the Hump and 8th St are the only 2 places I've been riding. I own 2 quads and both are properly registered. I got stopped by 5 officers on quads at the Hump 2 weeks ago but after checking my registration, they told me to have a nice day and I continued to ride. I thought they were just looking for stolen or unregistered quads.
I will pledge my active participation in any legal event geared towards getting or keeping riding areas in south FL. I just purchased some new Mud Lites for my Vinson and I plan to ride 8th st this Sat.

Totally agree with Jack and 8th st can get crazy on the weekends but that's what makes it fun. I will however say the old cars abandoned there are beginning to get out of hand but I doubt its the ATV riders leaving them there.

You know, you could fill a junkyard with all the stolen cars in just c-14 alone. I can't imagine how many are in the rim canal of US-27, but considering a 53' truck and trailer sat in it with a driver for three months undetected I bet you could stack them and nearly reach the moon.

I forgot to mention I was talking about little kids when I said helmets
I know there is no helmet law.
Flags, I would say yes, the treeline is pretty high and you CAN NOT see the people coming (doens't help that everyone goes 50mph right by the trucks/lake). I really don't like that place.

I only go during the week, so I don't know what goes on out there when it is packed on the weekends, but it is pretty big so it SEEMS like it should be cool. I guess it is like the Holeylands, some people love it and some people hate it. Considering it is one of our last wild west style riding areas, losing it will be a big blow for all of South Florida.

If it is the place I went not too long ago it seemed like a pretty good place to ride (just past the casino coming from Naples) it is just sad that there is going to be no place to ride anymore. I have started driving hours and hours away from Naples just to ride for the day. We are successfully being choked out
and for all the answers that people come up with none of them seem to work. I just wish I had an answer.

Yes, this is the place. What is really sad is I use to skip everything we had over here to ride Badluck which you can probably get to from your house on a bike..probably the greatest place EVER down here.
My answer, buy property in North Florida where everything is the way it should be. The sand terrain is a far cry from the muck I love, but you got to do what you got to do.

Yea Badluck was my backyard (so to speak) now it is just a lot of good memories. I loved sitting back watchin all those big bad trucks get buried LOL then watch a little ole buggy or 4 wheeler go right through the hole, we had some good times out there growing up. I don't know how kids now a day are going to get out and have a good time with out getting in trouble, its a shame. I guess the kids are just suppose to go into town watch movies, go to bars, and whatever else you do in town. (I don't know) Enough of my rambling... it just sucks, sorry to hear this news.

I don't.
We are loosing holey land/rottenburger. It's no doubt. If we loose that, the only thing we will have is macks and MM38.5, L-Cross/C and R. Honestly, I'm fine with riding L-Cross/C & R. At this point it's costing me just as much money to ride for the weekend at local places than L-Cross. I would HATE to lose another riding spot that is local (for the test/tune days and just good ole swamp rides) but we aren't exactly making lee-way towards gaining property available to OHV's.
I think HL is next...shortly after that is macks. It's all the idiots that drive on the road and gets caught by FWC. Don't let anyone fool you, when FWC catches people driving on the road at both 8st and macks fish camp, it's definetly NOT good. I see that crap all the time, and that is what is getting places shut down. I highly doubt riding on LEGAL property (macks on the west side) is annoying anyone
When I went to Chrome last time, it was miserable. My buddy broke his belt, but the 5 mins we were there I wanted to kick some ass. We were by the lake washing up so we could change his belt, I hooked a rope to him and dropped him in (he couldn't power out). I was sticking out of the lake maybe 7-10ft. There were guys on sports going at least 30mph sliding making dust everywhere right in our faces. One of the guys had the balls to slide towards us...needless to say, some words were exchanged. Then we were on our way back to the trucks, I was towing him back, going between 5-8mph in low gear...I was ALL the way over ot the right side. These assholes go flying past us like we are a tree, flinging rocks and sand at us. Like it's a game. They have no respect for anyone or anything. One guy was sliding slinging rocks past all the trucks that were parked by the road. Then a bunch of guys on banshees and 4 strokes came from 157th on the road...thats when I said to my buddy, 'Thats what gets places shut down'. And now look at it. That place was a disaister waiting to happen and I'm surprised that this illigal riding went on for so long. There are about 4 more entrances though, some people know about them, some don't...so it's defintly not oging to stop anyone in MIAMI from riding...trust me.
Now at macks, 4x4matt got his belt wet. I towed him back to the truck, everyone was really curtious besides for 1 person. Everyone went really slow past us and respected the fact that we were obviously trying to be as curtious to them as possible.
At HL, I haven't seen too many people act like idiots and fly by the trucks or do any of the stupid stuff I see that goes on down south.
I have rode all these places on the weekend, weekdays, and holidays. It's just funny to me as the more north you go, the nicer the people are. North riding FTW.
I don't see chrome as a step back for SFWMD, I see it as a step forward. Everyone ABUSED that place. The amount of cars that were burned and dropped there is incredible. It's not even a LEGAL riding spot. It never was, never will be. So everyone that used to do the stupid things there, pat themselves on the back for getting the place "shut down". It wasn't the riders that are respectful and 'obey' the common curtousey, it's the assholes who ride on the road, set cars on fire, fly past the trucks, and ride like a bat out of hell around the lake. Like I said, to all the not a very nice person riders, pat yourself on the back for getting "your" place shut down. (thats not directed on anyone on this site, I HIGHLY doubt anyone that has the competence to be on the internet is riding like that or doing the things I see out there)
When people start doing those things at HL, I will say the same thing I just said, but I simply don't see that happening because apparently FWC patrols the area. It's called preventative maintanance.
I even see some of the people up at Macks doing some stupid stuff. FWC was out there almost the whole time we rode last time, and he pulled over some kids for crossing the street...smart!!!!!
Like I said, I'll probably get e-jumped for this one, but I stand my ground

I dont see how you can get flamed for stating facts. The real problem is that most of the people screaming about 8Th street getting shutdown are the same ones who are flying through the adjacent nieghborhoods at all hours of the day and night, and zipping through traffic on U.S.41.Not all of us ATV people are to blame,However alot of us are the cause.I also dont see why people act suprised that they are taking away riding lands,Miami Dade county doesnt offer sh1t to any form of recreation. We cant ride watercrafts we can barely play paintball,We have 1ATV park and it is realy geared towards dirtbikes and MX.IMHO what we need ASAP is a designated place for us ATV'ers that has rules and Regs that are enforced.I may be totaly off base here but myself and all my riding buddies seem to agree that the main problem is the younger crowd and the whole fast and furious mentality.I honestly hope that we get somewhere to legaly ride but for now I am totaly content with putting the quads in the trailer and paying my 20 bucks to ride in another county.

people with comments like urs are ignorant cause I am 1 of the 1s screaming and fighting and not just do I not live next to it or ride screaming thru neighborhoods but I have only been there 3 times in pass 2yrs. and Holeylands on been there 3 times ever but it still sucks that we get these places taken away from us when we (some of us) pay registration fee's tags fee's for your trailers, and now they are gonna make it so everyone takes a safety course to ride and pay for that to phucn socks I am of the very few that rides maybe 3-4 times all summer I prefer winter riding but I am still not letting go with out fighting cause when my kids do good in school at the end of the week if they want to ride I take them I just done ride I look but it is they who will suffer if we dont fight this discrimination of atv's NOT ALL APPLES ARE BAD does the police ticket all for 1 persons infraction no they ticket 1 so that is why this sucks it is always the same crap everyone rides on the streets no they dont, everyone rides wreckless not true either they should ticket or arrest the ones doing it . otherwise just wait when the guy next to you kills someone hell turn yourself in for him cause it is your fault too then

What are you getting taken away from you??? Is it legal to ride there?I want a place to ride just as bad as you do,however 8st isnt even remotely the answer. If you live in Hialiegh then why wouldnt you just goto Miami MX or jump on 27 and goto Seminole mx?We should focus and promote the few legal places we do have and maybe get them some more funding for future exspansion. What about Supermoto at homestead speedway?Has anyone approached this subject? They race karts there so why couldnt ATV's race there? You are beating a dead horse and the reality is WE will loose 8st to most likely new home construction. This is just my honest opinion so if my last comments make me ignorant then so be,however I see myself as a realist.

From my understanding, 8th street was NEVER leagl. Just a HUGe gray area. No one lost anything. I guarantee all the people from Miami will still ride there, it didn't stop them before!
I pay a lot of money on taxes/registration for my 2 ATV's and my trailer. I feel we should have LEGAL riding spots. I wouldn't mind if HL had a 'sticker' that you pay say $50 a year for (like other places) and if they actually enforced it. It would be awesome and it would make a lot of money for the state!!!
The point is 8th street isn't and was never legal. No one lost anything. It is just as illigal to ride there now as it was.
