I have had my raptor 660r for over 2 years and it has over 300 hours on it and i ride the hell out of it and i have not had a single problem with it. and if u are comparing the 2 a raptor would blow a 400ex out of the water.

No doubt a raptor has a lot more power than a 400EX.

On the other hand a 400EX will out handle any Raptor any day.

You can have problems with anything you buy. If you take care of it, it will last a long time.

The question is what kind of riding will you be doing? Are you a trail rider, track rider, fast trail rider? Are you a "good" rider. Different strokes for different folks. I would go with the Raptor unless you were going to ride MX. Just my .02 worth.

I would go with a Z400/KFX400/DVX400 style quad. They fixed the trans problems in the Raptor. It was the 2001s that had a problem.

More power than a 400EX.
It is water cooled.
It has reverse.
Still handles better than a Raptor.

For overall power and a good trail bike, the 660 raptor is great. The 400EX is a damn good bike also, just slower and lower. I'd probably choose a 660 over the 400 though, just for the power.

But if you plan on hitting the track frequently (or at least more than the trails) I'd go with the one of the 400's.

They did have a problem with the Tranny's on the 2001 models. it was fixed in the 2002-2005 models. i have an 03 and love it..... The 400EX and the LTZ400 have a bunch of power and are lighter bikes... easier to manuver. im a heavier rider and prefer the bigger bike.

In a drag race the raptor wins but if your not going to be drag racing then either bike is a good choice. I love the torqe monster my bike has become once i added the BIG THREE!!!!

Nothin run's like a Banshee, theres a pretty nice one in the For sale section for $2,000.00, a lot cheaper & easier to re-build than a 4 stroke, might not have as much bottom end as a 4 stroke but w/ some mods you can fix that.
I have both & will always love my Banshee.

The LTZ400 is definately better than both the other ones. There's plenty of torque and they handle hard riding in the trails, and can be good on a track. Plus, the reverse is easy to use and they make a lot of mods for it.
I had a 03 that I rode hard for 2 1/2 years with a modded engine, and never had any problems while I watched all my friends breaking down. I smoked some new Raptor 700's with it and kept up with some 450's.
  But, it's also the rider!!

From what I hear KFX and Z400 are the same exact bike with different colors? But around here every KFX i see is faster than the Z400.

Just get a banshee once you ride a banshee no other atv will excite you when you press the throttle.Trust me on this.I wanted a 4 poke before but then I ride my banshee and say NOPE.Plus if you really wanna go fast theres so many cheap mods you can do.

If you are going to trail ride and maybe do some woods racing the Z400 is a good choice.  Mine hasn't let me down yet.  Plus there are lots of mods for it.
