I like the outcome but don't think it would have gone the same way without that unintentional injury. He sure stunned Randy a few times.

Yes he did get some shots on Randy before the broken nose.  Randy also got some great shots on Gonzaga before & after the broken nose.

Had the broken nose not happened....I think Randy still would have eeked out a 5 round win, just due the to fact that he'd hurt Gonzaga with a few shots even before the broken nose.....Randy was controlling the fight.

Randy looked great out there!  Quick, agile, aggressive!

He actually suffered a small break in his left arm/hand when he blocked that one high kick.  It's not a bad break thank goodness!   Smiley

It sounds like Randy won. It sounds like he broke the guys nose to end the fight. What round?? Is there a re-match scheduled?

Yes, Randy won by TKO in the 2nd round.  Randy picked Gonzaga up and slammed him down about midway into the 1st round and either Randy's head or Gonzaga's own knee came down breaking his nose when he was slammed to the mat.  The into the 2nd round Couture took Gonzaga down and was in half-guard throwin' punches & Gonzaga was just covering up and not fighting back.  Herb Dean (Ref) stepped in & called the fight!

No rematch as of now.  Someone else (prolly Cro-Cop if he defeats Kongo coming up on 9/9 UFC75).  Sure Dana White is trying like MAD to sign Fedor.  If so....it'll be Fedor v/s Randy.

You can ready up & see some pic's at ufc.com or sherdog.com.   Grin
