Not very powerfull. A blaster is much faster. We bought one for my wife, and she loved it for a bit, but as her skill increased we relized the bike was holding her back.
She moved up to a 300ex and she can almost keep up now. I am 6'1 and feel cramped on a blaster as well as the bayou. On the plus side the bayou proved to be very reliable in the years we have owned it.It is the bike we loan out and has never left anyone stranded. Drum brakes are a pain to keep adjusted, but if you had an older blaster you know that. As for keeping up with your son on a 450, you will need a lot more bike.

If it's in good shape for $500....get it!!

Good entry level 4-wheeler.

If you're just going to ride....it's plenty!  Cool
