This just in!! AutoWeek is reporting that Ford will allegedly be putting a supercharged 4.4L diesel V8 engine in the F-150 for 2009. Expect it to have around 330 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque! GM & Dodge are also planning on putting diesel engines in 1/2 ton trucks, but Ford is expected to be the first to actually produce such a truck. The 4.4-liter engine is a larger version of the 3.6-liter turbocharged V-8 used in European market Land Rover Range Rovers.

That 1/2 ton truck will probably be more like a 3/4 ton, a little bigger brake's, & a little heavier springs is all it would need.

Its not pointless at all. Diesel are far superior platforms than gasoline engines. from what i hear, fords are not. |

put you some "helper springs/ add a leaf" from Advance or wherever(less than $100.00), then you can haul more weight, when pulling or just driving in general, always leave yourself a distance or a "CUSHION" from the person in front of you. trailer brakes will help your tow vehicles brakes last a lot longer. also don't tow from your bumper, get a trailer hitch (Reese style) |

I completley agree, I don't care who makes (ford,chevy,dodge,toyota) a 1/2 ton diesel  I will be REAL curious how much a 1/2 ton vs. 3/4 |

gm anounced there plan to make light duty diesels along time ago. i guese ford and dodge are geting in on that idea too. and there is nothing bad about a light duty deisel. diesels are easy to get big power out of and theres nothing cooler than a truck pouring out black smoke making 600hp and geting 20 mpg while doing it.
