how long does it take most of these quads to reach this mph?  a freaking mile?  i mean come on, when you are talking about gorilla motor banshees that are doing 115 mph in the 1/8th.

derek you got it right, people are full of $hit.  hit the track, show me a time slip and then I will believe half the $hit I read on this internet.

YUP....IM goiong to GPS my banshee this week and I will take a pic of my top speed.

i am talking about race gearing now... i'm sure we could gear tim's bike taller to get a little more top speed! but thats not what it was built for, we race on the track! not just going down a dirtroad as fast as we can! if it were geared that tall it would suck on the track! Cool

I know in dirtwheels a whillle back (i cant find it on google) a guy modded his raptor to break the world record at either 127 or 137. I cant even think of one thing that was done to the bike though. I'll keep looking to see if i can dig it up.

It takes big power to pull those big gears.  I would calculate out the gearing that I needed to accomplish what speed I wanted (reasonable thinking) and do that.  If the bike did it with no problems, then go up in gearing, until the motor can't pull the tall gear.  Also remember if your running alcohol you need big float bowls to keep the acohol to the motor, but if your running gas shouldn't be a problem leaning out on the big end.

There are  soooooooo many peaple that would be SHOCKED to find out their bike isnt anywhere near as fast as they THINK it is......

The big outlaw banshee`s arent even hitting 120 mph in the 1/8th, and thats all they are built for is fast and straight.

06, yeah you will probably go over 80, but I wouldnt expect much mpre than that. Not trying to be a D_ _ K, but its just not likely for more than that.

The Raptor or whatever that was trying for the record , was NOT stock, he was squeezing juice and NOT to mention a TON of work done to it.
Face 4 pokes arent that fast. They have come a long way, But still have a long way to go.

according to my calculations, you should be able to go about 85mph. that is IF you have 16/40 gearing w/ 20 inch tires and your motor can reach 9000rpm in 6th gear! if you have the usual mods. pipes,carbs,porting,ect... i think thats all the rpm you will get to... unless you are going down hill or with the wind! Cool  let us know what it does.... Nerd

i hit 76.4mph on gps when my raptor was bone stock (stock 13tooth front)

then i did some motor work and went to a 12 tooth (shorter gearing) but was able to hit 79.9mph because i had the power to rev the motor out higher in top gear

then i went to a 15 tooth and did 91.something but backed out of it because i was running out of road

dont know much about shees but i think he has the power to pull the gearing required to do 80+

My friend with a raptor 660 had a yoshi and a 15 tooth and a barnet clutch and I had CPIs and was running stock gearing and I was Running really rich and I would just st8 up destroy him..If beast66 chimes in he will tell you...I also raced a 700r with barkers, camed and ported and power comander and he had topend sprockets and I beat him by 6-7 bikes...He thought My bike had a stroker
