I just got home from riding and spending time with my Dad. We both went to Croom today so I could let my Dad ride my ATV. He loved it so much that he wants to buy one soon so he can ride it at least once a month a Croom.

I hope that everyone had a great Father's Day.

Banshee,  You need to have a heart to heart with your Father and tell him how you feel as calmly as possible. Your Father is 47, I lost my Father @ 54 and I would give allot just to spend one more day with him. Respect him and share your feelings with him, life is too short to have these feelings.Your father loves you I am sure, he is just being a little selfish right now...as I am sure you have had times where your friends came first. Pray about it!! Let us know how it works out,,,good luck.

Don't feel bad Banshee. My abusive Dad left when I was 8 and stuck me in a Foster home. Your new purpose in life is to make your own family and be a better Dad than he is. If that's how he is, you don't need him.
Anyone can make Babies, it takes a real man to be a Father!!

Glad you had a good time Rob, hope he does get a quad.

I have been where you are right now.  Just hang in there and keep trying to talk to your dad about quality family time with you and your sister, whether his girlfriend is around or not.  Praying about is another good thing.  No excuses for your dad, but he has needs too and probably feels as much hurt as you do.  My mom left my dad and I when I was 8, so I have been down the road you are going on now.  I reunited with my mom when I was 26 years old and forgave her for her poor decisions.  Keep your head and pray, things will come around.

I think you guys are right, his dad is being a little selfish right now, but,i think the best comment is to when you have your own family you make sure that you make your children your first priority.I went through the same thing with my dad and his girrlfreinds and their family-now i spend every bit of time i can with my son because i do not want him to grow up hating me as mmuch as i was mad at my dad.We have since cleared things up and we can talk now and i think he realizes the problem though he is not rready to fix or own up to asll of it yet, pparents are not perfect and some of the thingss that the kids do not see their family stressing overr to make surre you cxan ride, eat and get dressed underr the same roof every day can take a tole and you might feel like being selfish for a little while!

Just my 2 cents and hope it helps,i am damn pproud of my son and would not change anything at all!!!

I hope something works out with your dad.

I had a sad fathers day.  The first one I've ever spent without my dad...he passed away a few months ago.  It really sucks, and I'm still only 19, fathers day was such a huge day for us because my dad was such an awesome dad.  Kiss

Well I can tell you that my dad left my mom and I when I was 18 for a woman that's ten years older than I am.  I was very bitter for awhile.  He lived 12 hrs away and paid for one ticket for me to go see him.  To this day I can not talk to him because he doesn't listen.  Fortunately, I found out quickly that my new step mom (yes he married her w/in a year of leaving us), is a great woman.  I have hardly received anything more than a card from him for bday's and xmas for the last 15yrs.  He doesn't even write on the card or sign it, my step mom does all that.  I seen him twice in 8 yrs, I get a visit about every 4 yrs and only when he has business down here.  If he spends 6 hrs at my house on a visit that's about as good as it gets.  I wish things could be different because one day he'll be gone.  And despite the fact that he's a SOB that abandoned his family and only child for a new family w/ no kids, I will miss him.  I've tried everything I can do to repair the relationship but after 15yrs of beating my head against a brick wall and getting shut down I got tired of it.  Pray for the ability to forgive him, try your best to talk it out, and do your best to not repeat the pattern in your future.
