We used a heat gun to remove the stickers that were on the trailer when we got it, but there is still some residue left. I tried using Goof Off but it started to take the paint off. What else can I try that will not remove the paint along with it?

Some 110 octane might work.

maybe try mineral spirits/paint thinner.
that maybe a little less harsh than goof off, or try nail polish remover/acetone.
see what chemical is in goof off (it might be just acetone), should say on can & make sure you don't use anything stronger than that like lacquer thinner.

Or try some "Bug & Tar" remover in a spray can at auto part store.

prob. need some elbow grease too, by the way how's your arm doing.

Goof off is in an aerosol can, but try "Goo Gone" in a liquid, it is probably milder.  Dab a small amount on a rag and use elbow grease, but test on inconspicuous paint to be sure. Unfortunately the heat may have "cured" or hardened the plastic.

Chuck_Norris just did this to his trailer too, ask him what he used.

acetone will take the paint off try naptha(lighter fluid),wd-40 works to.we use naptha on furniture at work it won't hurt the finish but it is extremely flammable so if you use rags hang them out so the naptha will evaporate.mineral spirits works good to and not as flammable as naptha.

I sell auto parts. We sell an adhesive remover. 3M and Permatex make it. If not Brake Parts cleaner will work.

We took the dirt and stains  off with the Simple Green, just to be clear

Motsenbockers Lift Off #2 Adhesive Tape- Gum - Remover

You can get this stuff at Home Depot. This stuff worked better than the 3M, Not that the 3M did a bad job. I liked the way 3M worked but it would dry real fast and with all the stickers we took off the 3M would evaporate faster than I could get the residue off, the Motsenbockers as a higher petroleum base keeping the residue more plieable and easier to remove. You spary this stuff on the old adhesive, wait about 20-30 seconds and then scrap it off with a plastic scraper, it does not hurt the painted surface

We will try the WD40 today (because we have a bunch of it) and if that doesn't work I am off to Home Depot for some of that stuff

I would use mineral spirits before brake cleaner. Be sure to try a SMALL hidden area before trying ANY solvents...unless you are thinking of painting it. Wink

Lighter fluid works great. I used to remove the residue from the stock plastics on my bike.
