Propane fryer and pots

Hi guys,
I know this is a little off topic ... however I have a few questions.
I bought the other day a Bayou propane fryer and it came with two pots. A small and a large (about 7.5 gal) one. As of now I just need the small one. I used the small pot the other day and I noticed that through the heat the pot burned quite a bit on the bottom of it. When I unpacked everything Bayou had 6 hard plastic things sticked to the cooker and it looked like they were only there to 'protect' to pots in the box, especially they werent on the side were the pot would sit while you are cooking. Now since looking at the burn marks at the pot Im wondering if I have to use those hard plastic things even though I doubt it since I'm almost positive that stuff would melt.
On that hand ... I'm also looking into getting a 10-12 gallon pot. Can I use any stainless steel pots or do I need to pay attention to something?
Thanks guys for your help!

Your Ok, The fire might be a little to hot for what your cooking but you are fine, I have used the same pots for 5 years deep frying turkeys, buring musscle, clams, low country boils and boiling peanuts they take a heck of a beating.
