It's probably nothing, but when it comes to my son, I get so worried.  It started last week when he had a headache, and I really didn't think much of it, he never gets headaches and with the smoke and all.  Well then he got another one last night, so I called the doctor just you know to calm my nerves.  Well, now they want to see him, see you all don't understand, we've been through so much with him when he was an infant, and although he is 8 years old now, I get myself so worked up.  I am literally shaking and trying to calm myself down, telling myself that it's nothing.  I guess it just brings the past up into my face, and it scares me.

I know that I must hold on to my faith, and I hope you all don't think I am crazy, it's just when you have gone through what I have with him, it's hard not to worry.

So could you all just say a prayer for me that God will give me strength, and comfort me.  MORE IMPORTANTLY, that everything is just fine with my son Anthony. My son means the world to me, he is my world, and I just want him to be healthy and happy.

Just going to the doctor he hates, it's just hard.  So please guys and gals pray that everything will be okay.  I just came in here to calm down, cause he can't see me nervous.

I totally believe in the power of prayer and faith, so just to see that you all have us in our prayers will give me comfort and the knowing that everything will be okay.

Thanks.

Prayers are sent.  I'm sure your son is fine but better safe than sorry.  I know what it is to worry about a sick child.  If they clear your son of any possible illness or traditional medical reasons for his headaches. You should consider doing some research on chiropractic and the results we have w/ headaches as well as the reason's that cause them in children.  Good that you are having him scene b/c headache's are not typical for children.  I have helped many mom's like yourself w/ their kids.

Okay now I feel kind of stupid, man I can't believe how I let myself get so worked up over my son....

Took him to the doctor, they did the typical neurological manual testing, and he past with flying colors.

Check his sinuses, and said it is for sure allergies that are causing these symptoms, they prescribed Flonase and Zrytec.

He did notice though that his neck is really stiff, says some kids just get this, and that I should massage and/or get a professional massage, I said, great we can get a 2 for 1.  Probably do like QT said, take him to Chiropractor.  It's weird though, we both have the same muscle stiffness, and same side, so like I said we will both go.  Like mother like son.

Again, everyone thanks, I know that I kind of over reacted, but when you have been through the stuff we went through with him, it sometimes can all come flowing back.  See he had surgery when we was only 4 weeks old.  Then when he was about 10 mos old, he was acting fine, just a little tired.  I wont go into the whole story, but when I was taking him to the doctor, I had convinced myself that he was okay.  Then come to find out he had internal bleeding, they admitted him immeditately into ICU and we came real close.  So I guess sometimes when he gets a little ill, that feeling comes back, and it just scares the hell out of me.  But again, I thank God my little man is okay.  God only knows how much I love this kid.....

thanks again...

Up here near Tampa, a couple months ago, strep was going around. My son was having 100 deg. fever on & off. Motrin helped a little & he complained of headaches. Took him to the Dr. & she checked everything & found nothing, then she said one more test. Swabbed his throat & 10 minutes later she had positive result for strep. A few days on antibiotics & it is all gone. I know how you feel with sick kids, it will drive you crazy real quick.

Chero - you can never ever feel stupid for worrying about your son. My son is 7. I worry about him all the time. We have spent many sleepless nights at the hospitals with his asthma since he was born. I have no such thing as a common cold with him. EVERY cold we end up on the breathing machine (nebulizer treatments 4-5 times a day) if not the ER.

Anyway I wanted to tell ya was they prescribed him Zyrtec. I was told to give it to him at bed time, that it will make him sleepy...He became a ZOMBIE and was ready for bed within 20mins of taking it. There were still lingering effects of that in the morning. Made him really hard to wake up for school and he was always groggy! I know medicine is different with every child, just wanted to let you know the side effects we had from Zyrtec. After about 3 weeks I took him off of it.

Thanks guys, and thanks for the info on Zyrtec.

The funny thing is if it's just allergies, why is he sleeping so much.  He has been out since 12:30, and all I did was give him tylenol.  Haven't gave him the Zyrtec yet.  I guess its possible with allergies, I know I should not worry since I just took him to the doctor.  Had to call the dr anyway, due to the fact I didn't write down the dosage on the Zyrtec that they gave me.  I called the office and asked what the dosage was because I forgot to write it down, she come back and says once a day.  I felt like saying ah dah... How much.  She is going to have the doctor call me back on the dosage, and I can ask him about the sleepiness.

But thanks everyone for your thoughts and words, hey Loven It sorry about the asthma with your son, so I am sure you totally get it.  I cant stand that feeling it.  Thank you everyone for lending an ear, or should I say fingers....

I went through lots and lots of medical issues when I was born (I actually died 4 times, but they brought me back.) and I havent been in the hospital since. Hopefully your son has the same luck as I do, we just got all our problems out of the way when we were young.

Thanks Bigscrb, funny how I have never met the most of you, but somehow you all have become my friends of comfort.  Right now trying hot soaks in the tub, he don't have a fever but it seems help him feel better.  We have such a warn out water heater, I have to keep warming the water on the stove.  Our water heater only good for 30 gallons, then it takes 3 years to warm again.  Ah, I love my house... Went to the store got him some Motrin Jr, oh my gosh, what a difference.  Poor kid, wouldn't it be nice if they came with instructions.  I mean you know they give you all that training about how to give birth, and from there you just wing it.  Hey dirtygirl, see what you got to look forward too.....

Actually got the RX, dang w/RX and lets see, Motrin Jr, Tylenol Jr, Heat thing for his head, oh yea and the thing for his neck, oh my gosh $299.00.  Thank God we just got our Income Tax Refund Check, you know how that goes, oh good get a little ahead this month....not.

But you know what, seeing my little man feel better, priceless.....

Thanks again gals/guys appreciated..... Wink

don't worry about being "MOM",,,,it doesn't stop.

I have a condition that at it's worst makes me pass out for a few seconds, but I have learned the warning signs and am able to head it off and have'nt had an episode for about 3 years.  The warning sign to me and others is my face going pale and I start to feel light-headed,,,,,this condition was discovered back in '95, and to this day, my mother still worries about it,,,,if she sees a hint of my face going pale,,,,,she get's worried,,,,,and I'm set to turn 30 years old in August ;-)

moms don't stop being moms

Thank you for all your prayers and support, and for sharing all of the stories.  For some weird reason, it does help to know you're not alone and not going crazy.

Thankfully he is feeling better today, not his wild and crazy self yet, but I am sure he is working on it.

Thanks again guys, was just having one of those days, and thanks for being there and posting your thoughts & prayers. Wink

You're right about that @ida, I don't think we ever stop worring, he is will always be my baby.....
