Do any of you own a or knows anyone this type of atv, and after you run it a little while, whether or not you go into 4wd or not, the 4wd light starts blinking.  I looked it up in my manual, and it says it is a problem with the actuator.  Already had it in once for the same problem, and within a few weeks it's back again.  It is under warranty so that's no big deal, just hate my atv being in the shop and comes back w/same problem.  Would like get some more information before I take it back again.

Appreciate any feedback... thanks.

This reminds me, I need to take my bike in... I knew I was forgetting to do something, so I guess no one has one of these or has one of these issues, thanks anyways, thought it was worth a shot....

Have the same bike at work. Same problem, went through the diag in the service manual, end result was the acuator tested good but needed replacement.

Thank you very much, did this solve it?

Is the acuator what shifts it from 2wd to 4wd?

You know how it is when you have warranty work, the shop is running behind, so I don't want to take it up and miss out of Memorial Day Weekend, you think it would be okay to ride for one more weekend. Tell me what you think...

Thanks again for the information truly appreciated.... Wink

I have one (well, it's my wife's now)that is about a year and half old (2006) with over 1000 miles on it and the only thing I have done to it is get the 100 hour service done to it. (Blinking belt light). $115 later good to go. When the 4wd light is blinking, I don't believe you will get it in or out of 4wd. Never had that problem so I can't tell ya. I don't believe it will hurt to ride it though.

Yea it will go in and out of 4 wheel drive, hey does yours do this....

See my hubby's Honda, he can get stuck in 2wd and switch into 4wd, and he is good to go.  My Kawi, if I get stuck in 2wd, it will not engage.  Now if I know it looks bad, so switch to 4wd first, then go thru I am good.  It's like once you switch to 4wd, need to roll in order to engage....

Well at the least I am good to go for Memorial day, I can hear the mud calling me now...... Wink  Well, that's if I can find any....

I believe that all the Kawasaki's need to roll to engage 4wd. Roll Eyes Must be because it's electronic, something needs to kick in on a roll. I do love the diff lock lever on it, though. I don't have that on my Eiger. As far as going in and out of 4wd, it has never done that. Once you switch it in 4wd it doesn't come out until you switch it back to 2wd. Being that it is an electronic switch, wonder if there is a short causing it to go in and out? I am surprised we haven't had any issues with the 4wd because my daughter rides in front with my wife and she constantly bumps the switch while they're riding down trails and pops it in and out as they hit bumps or as she readjusts her hands on the handle bar.

Hope it's a cheap fix for ya and nothing goes wrong on Memorial Day weekend for you.

You should be fine but the 2/4wd switch will be stuck where its at. There is is sensor in the system that tells the little black box what position the actuator is in vs. the switch position and speed. I believe they work together to keep you from switching into 4x4 at 50mph.
