Don't pump gas on May 15th
In April 1997, there was a "gas out" conducted nationwide in protest of gas prices.
Gasoline prices dropped 30 cents a gallon overnight.
On May 15th 2007, all are asked to not go to a gas station in protest of
high gas prices. Gas is now over $3.00 a gallon in most places.
average car takes about 20 to 30 dollars to fill up.
If all did not go to the pump on the 15th, it would take
$2,200,000,000.00 (that's BILLION) out of the oil companies pockets for just one day,
so please do not go to the gas station on May 15th and lets try to put a dent in the
Middle Eastern oil industry for at least one day.

If everyone that needs gas on the 15th doesn't go until the 16th the profits just double that day. Until we lessen our need for oil/gas-we at their mercy on prices!!

I do not agree at being at their mercy on prices not when they continue to make record profits. A gas out is the first step this did work once and should again for a while. I believe the best thing to do is for all to ban together for a day and not go to work at all except for the emergency services and hospitals. This would show the legslitative folks in Washington we are tired of the fat cats getting richer off us. Just think if everybody stayed home from work for one day all on the same day it would be a voice heard around the world.

apkkfx400 is right ,it will not affect nothing the only thing it might affect is dispatching. people will either buy there gas the day before or the day after.i have worked for a oil co. going on 27 years and i have seen it all. we are selling as much gas this year as we did last year when it was $2.25 a gallon. florida does not have any mass transit so bottom line you pay the price or walk. i am no way defending the big oil i pay for my gas like everyone else , its just the way it is

I agree something needs to be done, but I don't think this will do it.How will the oil co. know what we're doing unless we all come together somewhere and let them know what's going on.They have the Chess pieces and know we'll have to buy gas sooner or later.
Maybe...we should do a Rally!!

don't do it...it only hurts the truckers and dispatch. If you remember, after the gas out day last time, they raised prices a few days afterwards so they stuck it to you, not the other way around. If you want to do it right, boycott a major oil company and stop going there period, not for just a day.

You should organize protest at several gas stations with signs showing why your boycotting.You may even get media coverage if you have a big enough group.

The only way you will put a hurting on a gas company is by riding a bicycle or walking to work for a week. Otherwise it doesn't matter if we all stopped buying gas on Monday's, the 15th or the third Wednesday of the month because we don't all buy gas daily. I buy diesel once a week usually on Wednesday or Thursday so not going on the 15th is doing what I normally do and no one will notice.

This won't work, The only way to get into their pockets is by carpooling, walking, bicycle riding or some other form that will keep you from using gas. And then when they decide that they are not making enough profit, they will just increase the price of what you do use and increase their profit margin. No way to kill them when one has to drive 20 or more miles to work and back.

its a win lose situation if nobody buys gas on the 15th they will probably buy it on the 14th or 16th.on the other hand if nobody pumped gas for a week.that would probably help.myself I only buy gas every other week unless I'm goin ridin.

That is true. EVERYONE should be screaming about the state and federal taxes. My local Mobil currently at $3.04 for 87 has posted a great break down right at the register. I will get a copy and post it, they have plenty of room to cut us a break. Unfortunately, they are testing the waters to see just how much we will tolerate, and it doesn't seem to bother anyone yet, because they are still buying the same amounts as when it was at $2.00 a gallon not so long ago. |

Truckers did this before and they should get together and do it again!

per gallon:
.132 cents-Pinellas County Tax (other counties are different)
.001 cents-Fed. Exc. Lust Gov't Tax (not sure what that is)
.00125 cents-Florida Inspection Fee
.153 cents Florida Motor Fuel Tax
.0020714 cents Florida Pollution Tax
.0012 cents Federal Env. Rec Fee (whatever that is)
PS As of April 23, my cost for gas was $2.15 plus tax...

What are they inspecting? Not the jalopies on the road spewing smoke, that is for sure. They have federal and local listed, and it looks different than yours. |

I would be willing to bet the Fl Inspection fee is to make sure you get a gallon of gas, no more or less when you pay for it. Look for the little sticker on the pump from Charles Bronson,Dept. of Ag.
