Shortbus Section Needed?

Hey I just have a suggestion.  And here's why, my son's friend who is 10 is over today, they come into the website under my signin, and I hear them laughing.  I come in my office, and they are reading about thongrider, and my son is only 8, so the 10 year old is sitting there explaining to him what a thong is. (which I can't believe that a 10 year knows what that is, but I guess these are the times). 

Look I am not being prude, I am not being a witch, I just want my son to be able to come on this site and it be the one site that I don't have to worry about.  Can you all please try and understand that.  I truly believe in the freedom of speech, but do you really think that by putting "mature audiences only", is going to keep the kids out. No, it's going to lead them right there.  They are kids.  I think they where in there first. I am sure some of you might say, well why you letting your kid on the web-site anyway, like I said, this is the only site I used to let him in.  He don't post, he usually just looks at the pictures, the very few times he is in.  All he wanted to do was show is buddy about 4-wheeling, well I guess we did.

I was not going to post on this subject anymore, but this site is turning into everything but about 4-wheeling, and family fun.  Read my logo - it's a family thing.  That's what it is, and that is why I contribute to this site.  But lately this site is not a family site, yea, I know I am going to get blasted again for being a prude, but you know what, I am just a Christian who tries to practice what she preaches. 

Because in the past few years, I have met and even riddin with a few of you, and there are some really great people.  And like I said, it's all good, but perhaps Mr. Bones can make a shortbus section, that you must be over 18.  Therefore, I will create a user name for my son, he comes under that name, and I don't have to worry about him being on this site.  This way there everyone is happy!  (Personally, I feel there are billion other websites that you all can talk about what you want to talk about, I wish we could just keep here clean family fun.)  Yea, it's going to get a little out of control once in while, but this just keeps going and going and going.

Ahhhh , the Short Bus is taken.  But an over 18 section with less strict rules would be a good idea. I wouldn't want to see all out xxx pics or open cussing. But thats just me.

Forbid someone on this site should have an ORIGINAL idea    You guys just want to copy and paste all the threds from floridaatv.com so you don't have to type it in yourselves  It could save you some time to be hypocritical, egotistical, and stab your fellow members in the back some more.

Hey cheropride, you are a good person and what you say is true. I have tried to keep the thread clean and thank God this is not as bad as the other one. I hope it stays that way myself. If not I will lock the thread. I do hope you protect all our interests, and post comments. Because I gaurantee I believe in what you do. Take care and stay who you are, a good person protecting their kids and the integrity of this site.

The internet is infinitely huge. There's a site for everyone out there regardless of if you want G rate or XXX rated. So everyone can find their niche. But when one site tries to be something they're not to keep up with others, it's never a good thing. Management here should keep the site running in the way it was intended, instead of looking around to see what other sites are doing and copying it. After all, atvfla tried to copy the Short Bus before as I recall.....how did that turn out again ?

The particular name of the over-18 section is immaterial.  Don't get caught up in that argument.  The point is that some people do not seem to be able to distinguish between what is and what is not appropriate on a forum supposedly dedicated to ATV fun.  Even though I am a guy, I dont appreciate the trash that is spouting from one or two people here.  I know I'm not the only one who has kids who frequent this board.  Take it somewhere else.

Like I said this forum should remain what it has been instead of trying to immitate another site. It was set up as G rated atv forum and that's how it should stay. If people here want something more adult geared there are tons of other sites that cater to that.

the reasons for not having an "over 18" section on this site have been explained in the past that the physical server and location of the website does not allow over-18 content on any of their websites,,,,to be able to keep this place alive and well, Mr. Bones has to abide by those rules or risk getting the site shut down. 

A while back Mr. Bones created and hosts the site mentioned above for those who like the same people here, but allow pretty much anything, and many members have taken that route to "spout off" over there and have their fun,,,,,I believe the idea died because most realized that they had more fun here even after some censorship.

The site is still running and available to anyone to sign up.

All I can say is FLOP  LOL There's only 1 Short Bus  and it rides at Floridaatv.com

This site is definitely more family friendly, which is the way it was initially set up. The only difference now is that you have to put up with all the advertisements. But the content is still the same from the members.

Look  I am not a forum guro, I had no idea that "shortbus" was due to specific site, and I am sorry.  I should of called it something else, I just want everyone to be able to discuss what they want to, but at the same time, I don't want to have any concerns what my son's sees, or better yet, what I will have to explain to my son's buddy family.  Trust me I am not that prude, it just been getting a little bit on the wild side.  If that's as far as it goes, that's fine, I am flexible and I will just wait till the latest "hot" topic calms down.  Today when my son got on the site, it was just, not what I really needed to explain.  Thank you Bounty for understanding, and for anyone else, I hope that I did not make you think that you were not welcome to site.  I love this site, and I think Mr Bones does an awesome job.  The same for the mod's, I just don't want to see a bunch of post that I have to be concerned if my son see's.  That's all. 

And thank you everyone for not blasting me, cause I was little concern that would be next.  Thank you for understanding my point of view, no it does not make me right, it's just one person's point of view.  And I really want my son to be able to come to this site, but it is probably a good idea to set him up a different account anyway, not that he post anything (yet), but if he did you all will know it was him....

No offense intended or taken Cheropride. I think it's great that you are concerned and speaking out in your child's interest. My kids aren't at the age where they can frequent this or any other site, or I too would be monitoring and censoring what they see. Your concerns just demonstrate your appropriate parenting.
This site was set up as a G rated atv site, and that's what it should be. There are other places for more adult content, and you shouldn't have to be worried about what your child sees here. Those that want more adult oriented discussions and material should seek out other adult geared atv sites like floridaatv.com or somewhere else where they can feel at home without upsetting anyone or possibly exposing children to inappropriate content.
My hat's off to you for being a concerned parent and wanting to make sure your child isn't exposed to inappropriate material.

You know not to beat a dead horse here, but what I can't understand is why you can't understand.  Look I am honestly not trying to bash you, and I thought that I made that clear.  Yea, there was a point when I got somewhat upset, and I am not going to rehash that.  I am woman enough to say, if I pist you off, ascept my apology.  I have yet though heard you ever offer an apology for telling one of our members to f-off.  Listen, I am not trying to start anything, I am trying to say lets put an end to it. 

I wonder if you have children, if so, than you could see some of our concerns.  Just keep in mind that we do have a lot of kids on this site.

You know I was done, I had said my peace, but it almost seems you want to come back debat the issue with me.  Like I said, personally I have nothing agaist you, personally we may have different ways at seeing things, but that is what makes us all unique.  The reason I started this post, is bcz what my son & his buddy read.  No it was not that bad, yea it could be alot worse.  If it had been the orginal post, it would of been.  I only brought up the thong thing, cause that was what they were laughing at.  I thought that I made that clear in the begining of this post. So then I had to explain it his parents, and the my son asked me, hey ma you wear a thong.  (I am not pist, and yea, you it can be humerous), but yes, I would like to say lets keep it clean.

If a guy started spewing the garbage similiar to what has been said by you two, he would get a 3day ban in a heartbeat. I still cant beleive you didnt get banned for the PM to drtygrl80. I got 3day banned for the exact same thing. Oh wait, maybe that was because stood up to a site sponsor who threatened me via pm like you did to her & I am a guy.
