Read the article again:

"...., caused by leaking fuel that ignited in a filter near the tailpipe, the AP said."

That is an apparent fire hazard caused from the exhaust pipe being too close to the fuel filter causing the filter to heat up, expand and leak fuel onto the exhaust pipe.  There have only been 3 instances of that happening, according to the article.  The article does not support the video.

you guys are stupid, FORD DOES NOT MAKE ANY OF THE DIESEL ENGINES, they use Navistar, which is the same people who made holy 7.3.

if it wasnt for Cummins, dodge would not be as popular as they are right now. Fords platforms are much nicer then the dodges. If there were cummins in these smaller fords (they have them in the bigger truck, like F650s), they would be kings.

also what about the overheating problems of the Duramax??? Do i need to find that vid of the guy doing a test with his new DMax where he gets out ran by a 5.9 12v becuse the GM is overheating and in "limp" mode???

none of the big 3 make their own engines, so that point is irrelevant.  Dodge moters=cummins, ford motors=international, chevy motor = isuzu

chevy ford dodge,,,,,,,tastes great less filling.

dunno about the bigger ones, but I know for half ton pickups in 2003(the year mine was made) Ford made a little over 800,000 F150s,,,,the next down only made a little under 200,000.

them numbers don't lie,,,,,they sell more because people want them more,,,,,people want them more for a reason.

THE DURAMAX IS MADE BY ISUZU THE FORD IS MADE BY INTERNATIONAL AND THE DODGE IS MADE BY CUMMINGS.ALL ARE GOOD ENGINES. LOOK AT ALL THE ISUZU BOX TRUCKS ON THE ROAD WITH 200K PLUS MILES, THE INTERNATIONAL IS DETUNED FOR THE FORD TRUCK AND IS CAPABLE OF MUCH HIGHER POWER WITH A FEW SMALL CHANGES ,CUMMINGS IS A WORK HORSE THAT HAS EXCELLENT GAS MILEAGE. NOW JUST LET IT GO.

He is right. Most of the compaines are not going to manufacture there own engines. Its just like the suzuki-kawasaki partnership. Whatever is best for the money is what there gonna do. My dad drives a chevy but its not a tradgey that somebody else makes part of your truck. I personally think its immature to make stupid comments about other manufactures like Found On Road Dead and all that crap. If one company made gold and the other sucked then they wouldnt sell very much. Truth is the imports are made in america and the big 3 buy there stuff overseas and other compaines make there stuff and then its sent to mexico and other places to be made.

That would be wrong. the International engine is not detuned in the Ford. It is actually extremely tuned up. In it's International trim the VT365 puts out 230hp and 540lb/ft of torque and is extremely reliable. As a "Powerstroke" the VT365 is pushing 325hp and 560-570torque, wonder why it is tearing up? Take that engine that is already overtuned and add another 100+hp chip and kaboom!

What a relief, I just got home from another out of town trip pulling my trailer full of toys with my 05 F350. From the sound of some of you experts I am taking a BIG chance just leaving my driveway. It does everything I need a truck to do......which is get my toys to the playground Grin.

I have an early build 2003 6.0L, it's the worst of the worst for a 6.0. 77k miles and ZERO warranty claims. I swear by the engine and trust my life with it. Why is mine different than others?Huh Because I know how to drive a diesel and what it's limits are. I agree Matt, this site is full of teenage experts.

getting off the deisel subject, but I think Ford made a decent truck with what I drive,,,,,I was just talking to my dad about possibly finally doing a tuneup on mine since I'm hitting 76,000 miles and the only thing I have done is oil changes and air filter changes,,,,,,that's IT.

I also just got 17.6mpg on my last tank,,,most of the drive was cruising at 70mph down to West Palm and back last night.

2003 F150, flareside bed, short cab, 5.4LV8, 3.55LS rear-end.

I have never understood why people think there truck is so much better than everyone elses.  If you truly believe that why get so upset when they drive something other than what you drive.  Theirs is just going to leave them stranded right?  So who cares what anyone says about what you drive.  Yall want to pay my bills then I will drive what ever you want me too LOL
