If you have never been there is a fun sinhole just behind the campground to the west. Go about ½ to 1 mile west of Scrub away from hwy 19 following/underneath the power lines. Look for a small trail on the right across the road. Cross road and follow trail about 1 mile back into the woods. Sink Hole is on the right and several hundred feet deep and has trails climbing out of it on all sides.

Also there is a fun pit a few miles east. Leaving Big Scrub Campground go left travel east towards hwy 19 for several (approx 3-4 miles) and on the far right will be a very wide trail and you can see the sandpit in the back on the right. Only a few thousand feet back will be the sand pit. It is shaped like a bowl with a few jumps and bowls but mostly just deep, deep sand. It is fun for a bit.

The sinkhole is fun for both types of quads the pit more for sports. Scrub itself has a mixture of riding areas once you venture a few miles from camp.

Never been on a Thursday but I imagine there might be a few people. As fas as size don't worry it the trials are very wide. People bring dune buggy's and jeeps and those cool Rhino's to Grin  http://www.atving.com/atvconnection/Yamaha-Rhino-660.cfm

Its a great place to ride, HOWEVER, if you are staying over night, take my advice..... Lock up everything you own. Otherwise it may not be there in the morning when you wake up. Trust me, I am a person who has and the WORST experience at Big Scrub!!.. Have fun Smiley

Take 441 east to hwy 19 and go North on 19. You will go past Eustis then Umatilla and then the town of Altoona heading north still on 19 and you will see the "Welcome to the Ocala National Forest" sign. Travel another few minutes more and on your right hand side you will see a blue sign that says rd 445 but dont turn here. Pass that sign and get ready to turn left within like 1/4 mile or less onto forest rd 573 which enters hwy19 at an angle which you'll already be on. 573 isn't marked well so you might pass it your first time but its easy to know if you've gone to far because you will go under some of those tall-high powered powerlines that lead to Scrub and if you do just turn around. 573 starts off as pavement and then turns into a dirt road after a few hundred yards. Just stay on the dirt road for 7 miles and you will come to the campground on your right at the intersection of forest roads 573 and 588. You can't really miss the campground. I usually park under the powerlines just outside the campground since it's free. If you plan on staying overnight just drive into the campground and you will need to pay $6.
