That really sucks... Wish there was some way we could help them but we have enough problems down here to worry about to help them too. Sad

Connecticut proposal could ban ATVs and possibly dirtbikes
All-terrain vehicles, and possibly dirtbikes, would be banned in Connecticut under two proposals introduced by state Sen. Bill Finch (D-Bridgeport) that are being considered by this year's General Assembly.

Finch (right), vice chairman of the Transportation Committee, introduced Senate Bill 330, which would completely ban the sale and operation of all-terrain vehicles in the state. Depending on which definition of an ATV is used, the ban could also include dirtbikes. In some sections of Connecticut law, it appears that dirtbikes would fall within the legal definition of ATVs.

Finch also introduced Senate Bill 565, which would ban the sale and use of mini-motorcycles, known as pocket bikes, in addition to banning ATVs in Connecticut.

The bills are scheduled to be heard by the joint Senate/House Transportation Committee on Monday, January 31, at 11 a.m. in room 2B of the Legislative Office Building, 210 Capitol Avenue, Hartford.

You can write to your state lawmakers urging them to oppose the bills at: Legislative Office Building, Hartford, CT 06106-1591.

It doesn't necessarily look like Connecticut wants to ban atv's more like a Democrat named Bill Finch http://www.ama-cycle.org/news/2005/CTban.asp   I don't know why Republicans call Democrats liberal cause most in politics don't seem to be liberal when it comes to letting people ride in this country Angry When voting time comes around we really need to look into how the people we vote for feel about our freedom to use public lands.

Looks like the committee meeting didn't go so bad though according to the a riders forum in Connecticut http://www.cttrailusers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=114&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30 If that bill were to get passed I imagine it would the state an enormous amount of revenue. It's just simply amazing something like this would even be considered and that someone has the stupidity to present it.

Hey i was wondering if this B/S does pass witch won't because the ATV manfactures won't let it happen, but in theroy if it does then what will happen to the people that already have them then what will haped to them? Will the atv be confiscated and they give the owner a little payment? Or will they just say that you can't turn it on in connectut??? ANy which way it is majorly screwed up Angry

well  there are some people i kno that if they tried to take any of their off road vehicles away from them they would most likly get shot in the progress, and i really dought they could care less what they tried to do with them, there are 2 many people that ride to actually let this happen so its pretty much not really possible. all i kno is if they banned it then i would leave this state right away.

I work alot in Ct., its just a bunch of people with WAY too much money.  People have horses, i bet some loud atv sppoked some guys horse, he fell, called up this guy, donated a sh*t load of money, and now this bill is up in the air.  Remember its the richest state in the union, i work for an international moving compnay and all we do is company VIP's and they all live in ct, and money is a very powerful thing.

Well for now it's alot of what if's, but not only do you have the Manufacture, Dealer, People who are already owners, and the State who will lose the revenue from titling and registration, thats alot of People to fight this bill in any state. As far as if it was to happen here they can take my atv but, they better have a check in hand or the lead will fly.

There would be a full scale riot if they tried to do that in Florida, or most likely anywhere else. But, I bet it would get everyone organized to rally for our cause instead of just spinning our wheels.  I cant see it happening, personally.  There is too much money in it.
