Brady,
The 600 mini-sprints?

CYA Sat.

Jim

I don't know? I know that they do not come as part of their associations schedule. The ones that come, come just to race for fun. None of the sprint groups seem to stick to any kind of schedule. We'll see who shows I guess.

You should have seen these cars that came out on Sun. to practice. Three quarter late models! They had 1000cc motors, little quick change rears, the whole bit. They were fast!

Here are the race results from Saturday night:

OPEN QUAD
1st- #32 Bud Chancey, Honda 450R
2nd- #5x Scott Sheffield, Honda 250R
3rd- #24 David Ware, Yamaha Banshee
This was some great racing, as the whole class seemed to be scorching fast. Bud and Scott both ran extremely well, but Scott spun and had to restart at the rear of the field. Sad He still managed to re-take 2nd in an 8 bike field. Dave's bike was screaming! I guess if you're going to break in a new motor, that's the way to do it!

INTERMEDIATE QUAD
1st- #12 Wayne Palmer, Yamaha YFZ450
2nd- #6 Travis Edwards, Yamaha YFZ450
3rd- #32 Bud Chancey, Honda 250R
This class is always good. Wayne was blazing fast, but Travis and Bud were right there with him. Definately a great race. Wayne, you will need a safety strap if slide any further back on that quad!

VET QUAD
1st- #71 Rick Dugan, Yamaha Raptor 660
2nd- #07 Chris Ware, Honda 250R
3rd- #3 Len Rambo, Yamaha Raptor 700
Excellent racing in this class. The old guys can BRING IT! Congrats to Rick for his win, it's been awhile. Chris ran strong all night as well. It's good to see you back running hard after your accident. It is definately worth mentioning that the infamous Quad32 ran in this class tonight on a GasGas300. Not bad for an old fart who hasn't raced in a long time! I suspect he needed some oxygen and a beer afterwards though... Wink

NOVICE QUAD
1st- #32 Jody Hopkins, Yamaha YFZ450
2nd- #4 Dare Rambo, Yamaha YFZ450
3rd- #3 Jeff Green, Honda 250R
A great race for sure! Congrats to Jody on his first win. Dare and Jeff were right there in it as well. I don't think there's a slow person in this class!

YOUTH QUAD - Heavy
1st- #92 John Cabana, Yamaha Blaster
2nd- #96 John Dugan, Yamaha Blaster
3rd- #82 Christian Jankun, Yamaha Warrior
In my opinion, this was the best race of the night. The two John's on the Blasters were RACING. Bumper to bumper the entire race with lead changes about every other lap. Awesome race!

YOUTH QUAD - Light
There were three kids in this class, Austin Akers, Carleigh Haas, and Joey Green. The score officials forgot to put this race on my results sheet, and I didn't see their race to know how they finished. I will post the results to this class shortly.

THREE WHEELER
1st- #3 Walter Lewis, Honda 350X
2nd- #22 Billy Golightly, Honda 250R
3rd- #57 Michael Donaldson, Honda 250R
Congrat's to Walter on his first win. He's a new racer, and was riding his butt off, because one little slip and Billy would have had him. Great race. For any doubters, I can assure you that the trike's get around the track damn good.

PEE WEE QUAD
1st- #35 Cassy Rigdon
2nd- #04 Justin Ware
I love watching kids race. They don't care if there's 2 or 20, they're RACING!

SR. BIKE
1st- #54 Kurt Brady, Yamaha YZF450
2nd- #25 David Coon, ?
3rd- #8 Ryan Rutland, 85cc ?
It should be known that the 3rd place finisher is a 9 year old kid on an 85cc bike. He ran in an 8 bike, adult class. Crazy.

MICRO SPRINTS
The finishing order for this race was not provided to me. I will post it when I receive the correct scoring.

All in all it was a great night of racing. We had a few mishaps and some tore up quads, but no serious injuries. The worst injury being a broken arm by Corey who rides my YFZ450. The bike wasn't so fortunate... Sad

Thanks to everyone who came, and we'll see you at the next race on March 3rd.

Please Note: To avoid any confusion, the Thunderbowl race results and the Southern Flat Track League results may differ, as some racers are not members of the league.

Some good racing in the trike class last night. I wasn't sure if I was gonna make it down because of my  cold but I loaded up on medicine the night before and felt OK Saturday morning so I went ahead and packed up. Walter was haulin out there and the 4 stroke definitely had the hookup advantage from the slick track. His holeshot is crazy, its like greenlight and then the next thing you know hes in the corner already!

Clapper  Great racing last night!!!  Great job Bud for another awesome win in the Open Class!!  Intermediate was a sweet race, the #12 bike, Wayne was flying!  He was walking away on the straightaway....unreal!  Dare & Jeff did a great job in Novice, congrats boys!  The trikes main was awesome, they really know how to work those bikes.  Jon whooped some butt in the youth heavy and Austin, Joey & Carleigh did a great job as awlays in the youth light.  Thanks Bradyo & Ray for understanding our concerns and working with us with our kids in the youth class, we appreciate it!!

Luckily the rain held off until about an hour after the races were over, cuz it came down in buckets!

Im sure your not happy with the way the league officals handled it. But you should know the rules for the Youth class before the race, just because you wanted to play by different rules in the middle of the game isnt the leagues fault.

The main thing we all need to concentrate on is letting the kids have FUN. That is all the kids want. All we need to do is be there for them to make sure it is safe.
