I drove buy last Sunday and the water is still to high. Ive been looking forward to riding here for the first time. Instead I drove over to Dowling Park and rode the Suwannee River levy and the old railroad bed. It was fun but the Alapaha River bed looks to be alot more my style. Since I just bought Suwannee River property I would hate to see a dry river bed but it only needs to be dry for a weekend so I can go riding. Cant wait. Larry

Yup, still flooded. All this damn rain is not helping. This after noon I am headed to the back yard to do a backwards rain dance. Like I said, I am like 5 or 10 min. away, and beleive me, I am checking all the time. The group ride sounds great! I look forward to puting a face and machine to all the names.
Some one said that they heard that they are going to try to put a stop to riding there. I hope not. Recently, they started enforcing some rules though. No riding on any of the banks, and parking is now sort of a pregnant dog. You have to actualy pull your truck down into the river bed since they no longer allow parking on the right of way which is pretty much everything outside the river bed. So please, when any of you do go, try to be respectful of these pain in the ass rules. For now, we can at least still go there. The rules they have are because of the certain idiots that end up everywhere that ruin it for everyone. People were going over the banks into peoples farm land, and the parking was stopped because of littering and tearing up the state maintained raod sides. We don't have much left around here, so we need to do some ass kissing to try and keep what we've got.
I'll keep all of you posted, happy trails!

You got that right on the parking, They wrote 6 of us tickets the last time we were there. And we were parked all the way to the edge of the trees but still on the front side of the signs. I thought someone had said there was a forestry station somewhere close to there and that you could park there?? If anyone is aware of this please let me know, because  it is impossible to get a 28' trailer in there. I will also keep an eye on water level because we work over there pretty often.

I'm so ready. Someone got a big pump so we can pump the water elsewhere.

lol... I'll keep my eyes out for a pump. I was told those crack ladies work cheap, we can round some of them up with straws...just a thought.
As far as parking, I don't know. I haven't seen a ranger station around there. Unless it is at another area on the river...I don't know. I am wondering though, on the north side of the bridge, on the opposite side of the road from where we usualy unload, there is a couple tote road looking things where they have done a little clearing. I don't know who owns it, or how many vehicles could fit there, but it could be an option for some parking. Myself, I've got a pretty stout chevy, and I am going to try to pull trailer and all down to the bed itself. If I am succesful, than I will hook up to anyone elses trailor while I am there and do the same. I will most likely be hauling 5 atv's, so if I make it, than I should be able to get most of the others down. We'll figure it out, I want everyone to be able to ride! Happy trails!

We camped about 2 miles up river last year.  myself, yunt and moose all pulled trailers up the river.   The only problem is make sure you put your trans in low gear, let All but about 5 pounds of air out of your tires (enough to keep the bead seated) and youll do fine.  first time, i over heated my trans with all the wheel spinning going on.  On the way back i let all the air out and didnt spin a wheel.

im ready for a camping weekend up there, and an opportunity to watch some of pimpins wacky tricks hehehe.

Another thing that is good is unload your quads before you pull your trailer down in the riverbed.

I appreciate the thought, but I dont remember that much room under the bridge. But the next time i'm up there i'll take a look around.  my employee was up there the other day, and its still full. Are any of you guys going to the rabbit run, would like to meet some of y'all. Personally I can't wait, been going to every event there since 2000 and just cant get enough of that place. Cool

Yea I think that was one of the best rides I have been on yet. I wish it would stop raining! Well hopefully it will dry up eventually. When it does I'll be there every weekend.

Well I didn't make it over to the river, but there is water everywhere like I have never seen it before. I'm sure it's flooded, as the Suwannee is over the banks all the way down to US 19. If this rain doesn't stop, we might have to wait till next year to ride it.

I went up the Alapaha river last weekend in a 26 ft cabin cruiser boat and the depth sounder was saying 25'-30' deep. This river is really flooded. Thats the only way we could ever get a boat of this size in there. The Suwannee River is running anywere between 35'-55' deep. Suwannee River management is saying it could be 45 days before river levels drop back to normal if it stops raining today. This water really sucks for me as a river property owner. They have got a no wake rule in effect now for all the north Florida rivers from the Georgia border south to the Gulf.
It might be next year before we get to do any riding out there.

The Santa Fe river where it passes under US129 in Branford is almost up to the bridge. It wasn't this high after the hurricanes last year.
