It takes oil to run the machinery of agriculture. Don't be fooled by the pictures of vast deserts; those people have been feeding themselves since the dawn of time. We'll run out of oil before they run out of food with that logic.

Ahhhhh.... this is refreshing. Nice retort, digginfool... too bad for every ass-clown, there isn't a more educated response. We are out-numbered. But as long as our brave soldiers die for the rights of everyday morons to spout their uneducated crap, we will continue to hear from sh!theads like Ward Churchill putting down the very people that defend his right to be a D!ck. He's right up there with Michael Moore.

IF YOU DEFEND OUR COUNTRY, COME TO IT AND DEFEND IT AND THE WATER AROUND IT
Are you that stupid to want the war over here-it was(it was called 9/11).I do not want the war here and do not want to go through another day like 9/11.You liberals and all your conspiracy crap,in the real world people lie-and since i have not seen anything that says you are an aid to the president and have access to documents then i do not see your side anymore than you see ours(America)
If you do not like the song on the radio you change the station,
If you do not like the show you change the channel,
SO IF YOU DO NOT LIKE THE WAY WE DO THINGS THEN CHANGE YOUR COUNTRY!!!!!!!!!!
Ok this is just ignorance in itself. First I'm gonna help you w/ your one-sided change your country. There are always other options the other one would be if you don't like your country change it's leaders. Now on to the bigger issue.
This war has nothing to do w/ 9/11. Osama BinLadin and Sadam Hussein are not cohorts in crime and were not in on 9/11 together. This war was started based on 9/11 but why are we in Iraq? Osama has been in the mountains of Afganistan and Pakistan for years and we have known it. So why are we not there looking for him?
Go back to Bush seniors administration when Sadam threatened to kill Juniors father. It was proven that the WMD are not in Iraq as Bush, Jr is saying, they are actually in Iran and Korea. Those are the countries that we need to worry about. If the war was about WMD then why aren't we in those countries? Again ask yourself why we are in Iraq?
It's about Bush going in to Iraq like a reckless cowboy. Sadam threatened to kill my daddy now he's going to go get revenge and claim this revenge under the pre-emption of 9/11 and WMD. Again there are no WMD and Osama is not in Iraq. Geographically speaking we are not even close to the countries where Osama is. In Bush's reckless attemt to avenge the threat on his father and protect his oil interests he forgot to consider what would happen to those ppl after the war.
He provided no infrastructure for the basis of setting up a working government. The Iraqis have been rulled by a despotic leader for many years. He's now gone so why aren't the ppl over there praising Bush? They use to have the conveniences we have like food, water, electricity. Since this war they have been w/o alot of these things. We can't even go for two weeks after a hurricane w/o these conveniences w/o wanted to kill each other or loot the streets. They've been going like that for years.
They do not have a working government to help them and they are not familiar w/ how to set up a working one. Now that we have killed Sadam our job is to finish it up by helping them set up a goverment and get back to a normal life. Unfortunately, because there was no infrastructure of a government to take over once Sadam was dead the boarders of Iraq are now being threatened by terrorists. So in effect we are having to try to protect the Iraqi's.
We can't just leave this country and have something worse than Sadam come in and try to rule them. We need to finish our job and while we are fighting for these boarders help them take back over their own country. In a nut shell if Bush had gone in w/ a plan prior to starting a war there we could be pulling out now since the target is gone. But because we didn't we are now having to defend that country, too.

his class is called THE IGNORANT MANS GUIDE TO BUSH PROPAGANDA. all of the sudden this guy-diggin- knows all. what he says if surely the God honest truth. because he is who he is, everything churchill and michael moore bring up to inform the public, is a lie. but the great diggin has the right answer. blah blah, you put your own little pieces together to come up with some conclusion to back up your beliefs. i am ready to read the book out there that dispels all of what ward churchill says in his book. have you got the name of it, or them. how come i have not heard a important government official {not a ex soldier-turned truck driver}publicly say that it is all straight up lies? all i heard them saying was how he was so unamerican and should be fired immediatlly, but not that he was lying.

The only reason why people like Moore and Churchill even get their 15 minutes is because there are plenty of feeble minds just waiting to jump on the first contrarian bandwagon they find. Do yourself a favor and get an education so that you can intelligently analyze the world around you. It's painfully obvious that you stumbled your way through a propagandist's diatribe (if you even actually read it - I suspect that you are spouting off on the comments of some other 'genius' that preached to you). BTW, a little research would show you that they DO have oil in and around the strife-torn regions of Africa. In fact, there is much evidence that shows there is a strong possibility of large petroleum resources in Somalia and Ethiopa already has established natural gas production. In regards to a 'revenge' attack on Saddam for threatening the elder Bush, president or not, no one person can lead the US to war. The decision to go into Iraq was made by a majority vote in Congress. Bottom line. As far as establishing control, the Sunnis and Shias have been warring for centuries and it's not going to stop any time soon. To the victor goes the spoils. Only now, figuratively speaking, the spoils are no longer camels and harems; it's oil and world influence. Religious fanaticism is the driving force in recruiting and is the central belief system but have no doubt, it's the power of oil that is driving all sides.

Okay, Yayhoo. Generally speaking, I like to stay clear of geniuses like you. How quaint that you picked up a book, managed to finish reading it, succumbed to the author's propaganda and now found yourself a soapbox to profess your newfound 'wisdom.' Each and every soldier serving willingly chose to go into harm's way. That is the other side of the deal; join the service, learn a trade or have your college paid for, and in return, you serve in the nation's military. It's that simple. Everybody there is there of their own choice and accord. And don't give me any of your snot-nosed tripe about financial status. Minorities and financially challenged citizens of this country have a cornucopia of scholarships, grants and financial aid packages available to them to attend any college they wish merely because of their position in life. The sad thing is that much of this money goes unused and is unavailable to the wealthy that you so quickly chastise.
The war in Iraq and the situation in the Middle East is far more complicated than terrorism and WMDs. It's mostly about oil and who controls it. You have to keep in mind the history of oil in the Middle East to understand what the motives are. It was Western countries that discovered and developed the oil fields. Billions of dollars and pounds were spent to create this extraordinary wealth for the Iraqis, Saudis and Iranians. The indignation arose because the leaders of these countries kept the wealth for themselves and their cronies and did little to improve the standard of living for their nations as a whole. What wealth did filter down remained within religious sect lines, furthering the inflamatory situation. The have-nots came to regard their situation as the result of the West's (particularly the United States) fault having enabled and supported their corrupt leaders. As these goverments were overthrown (don't forget how Saddam came to power in Iraq and what happened to the Shaw in Iran), the deals that had been struck for our supply of oil (like it or not, that's how this economy runs) were in jeopardy. While we initially were allies of Iraq, Saddam eventually came to realize that oil was a pretty good bargaining chip, and like anybody else, you can never have too much of a good thing. He clearly set his eyes on controlling all of the Middle East and set out to accomplish it by first taking Kuwait (who Iraq already had a long-standing conflict with), then Saudi Arabia before setting his eyes back on Iran. The world in general, particularly the West, could not afford to allow the supply of oil to fall into one man's hands, particularly one as ruthless as Saddam. Whether or not WMDs were ever found, there was no doubt Saddam was attempting to obtain them. Remember the nuclear reactor he was building that Israel took out so he would not have access to fissionable materials? You may say the reactor was for power generation but who needs a nuclear reactor for power generation when you already own a third of the world's supply of oil and have the Tigris and Euphrates river to create hydroelectric power? You need it to build a nuclear weapon. Iran obtaining a nuclear reactor was as much geography as it was politics. Any attack on Iran would be seen as a threat to Russia and China as well since they are the primary consumer of Iranian oil. The sheer distance from Tel Aviv makes it nearly impossible for Israel to make any type of pre-emptive strike and the Iranian shores of the Persian Gulf are lined with Chinese Silkworm anti-ship missles, making an attack from an aircraft carrier a suicidal event for all involved. The situation is very complicated and if you believe for a second that a Democratically controlled US goverment is going to get us out of there, you are sadly mistaken. You will quickly hear the same rhetoric; we must finish the job we began. The job is securing the financial future of the United States.
You lament the deaths of 3,000 warriors over the last 5 years and predict the death of 500 more in the coming months. If you care so much about human life, why aren't you screaming about the 40,000+ deaths on our nation's highways EVERY YEAR!! Get your head out of your ass. Why don't you do a little more research (that means reading more books that don't have pictures in them) before jumping on somebody's bandwagon? Why don't you try something really novel like reading an opposing viewpoint? It's better than going into a public forum and proving you don't have a clue.
Bravo, bravo
What diggin is trying to say is "its better to let people wonder if you are an IDIOT than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."

A Bipartisan vote, in which BOTH parties, as well as most of our allies agreed upon intelligence gathered by us, and our allies that led to the conclusion that Saddam had WMD's. And just because we didn't find it doesn't mean they didn't smuggle it to either Syria, Iran, or any other country unfriendly to the west. Don't kid yourself. We are in a struggle for the West as we know it. Regardless of how we got here, we
are
here. The war we fight now is against Islamic extremists who want to destroy anything that is not conforming to Islamic Law. All you have to do is just listen to our boys on the ground, and not some pinhead professor who if you did as much research in his dubious credentials, as you do in admiring his anti American views, you may learn something.

Has anyone seen the news lately about the three men arrested in Miami. Two middle east men were hiding in the back of the cab and the driver could not tell anyone what he was hauling. The bomb squad just arrived so they can check to see what they were hauling. This is what our border patrol does to keep us safe. The driver was Iraqi also.

FBI detains 3 men trying to enter Port of Miami
MIAMI — Authorities detained three men who were caught Sunday trying to slip past security at the Port of Miami, an FBI spokeswoman said.
A truck driver raised suspicions when he made inconsistent statements at the port's delivery entrance, FBI spokeswoman Judy Orihuela said.
"At some point he said he was alone," she said.
However, police stopped the truck and found two more men in the truck cab, she said.
The men, all of Middle Eastern descent, were in the country legally and do not appear on any terrorist watch list, Orihuela said.
There was no immediate threat to the port, but its cargo area was closed while authorities used an X-ray machine to search the truck, Orihuela said.
Several law enforcement agencies were investigating.
evidentally this was no big deal , but could potentially been. Have a friend whos group was absorbed by Homeland Security when it was created and he says the port of miami is terribly vulnerable. Glade to see they are making improvements with security.

Well it looks as if the contents of the cargo matched the manifest. Our countries protocal worked like it was supposed to. The three men are still being questioned and they are still investigating it though.

I think they need to be incarcerated even though nothing was found in the truck. After all he lied about being alone and for all we know it could have been a test to see if they could get through the check point.

trx 9 i dont know whether you like bush or not. myself I dont think he's done all that bad of a job so far, certainly better than clinton ever did. and for the idiot that started this post i'm sure as hell glad your not running this country. we have been at war to keep our country free from the beginning of time. I dont care if we ever find weapons of mass destruction. saddam was a threat to this country every minute of everyday. if you dont think he had anything to do with 911 you have a serious problem of ignorance. we will get bin lauden when the time is right. and here is another thing to think about all the people in iraq can now walk down the streets without worry of saddams two sons raping their wives or killing there husbands and then raping their wives for there enjoyment.or just getting killed for speaking the way you are on this forum. and what i would really like to see is you talking this way in a bar next to a good ole military base.

Fidel Castro leader of Cuba murder more people than Saddam ever did. So did China and many others. I not saying he was a good man or anything but after all its was his own country with there own different religion. Those middle eastern countries have fu** up laws anyways. A women gets caught being unfaithful she gets hang, get caught stealing they take your hand, Its legal to have sex with animals unless you are same the same sex then you get hang. I can keep on going here, but what I'm tiring to get at Muslims are strange people with different standard than us and we should leave them self destruct themselves. $hit if Saddam was so bad they should of got up and walk to Turkey or Syria and so on. They'll never get Binlad in because he's worth more being free than he is being caught.

if sadam had any responsibility for 9/11 why did the 9/11 investigating comittee not find any indication of that. second if our concern is policing the despates of the world as you suggest by protecting the iraqi's from sadam's brothers why are we not doing anything about darfur? sadam has been a threat to his own people.
i've talked to many of our service men in airports when they are off the record and not subject to military constraint on their free speech. you should consider doing the same.

no one ever wins these political discussions on here. everyone has different facts and some are true and some are not. i'm saying to the best of my knowledge that the facts i've presented are true. the same is true of the other ppl and the facts they have stated. the government 'protects us,' or feeds us what they want to. all the meanwhile the conspiracy theorists try to go underground and find out more. who really knows the truth?
it seems you've gotten upset over this and that's a shame. there's no reason to get upset over a bunch of ppl w/ differing opinions. in life ppl will always differ in opinions. all i'm doing is stating some facts that i believe to be true.
i'd like to clarify that one thing this is a democracy in which ppl have the right to their own opinions. disagreeing w/ public policy does not equate to bashing the government. i am 100% a U.S. citizen and believe in this country till i die it doesn't mean i have to agree 100% w/ what the policies are.

QT, i don't agree with every thing you have stated but, your last paragraph is completely dead-nuts on point. When I was sworn in they asked me to defend this country and its constitution. last I checked that piece of paper guarantees the right to dissenting opinion. I don't expect everyone to be able to serve , due to there fear , or there personal beliefs during war time . Thats why I'm a soldier to do the work that you cant. And I harbor no ill will about, its our jobs.Last time I checked we are All Americans and the military defends you all the same regardless of color , creed, nationality, religion or political party .
