I think we need more people like this, who rather than being negative wants to find a place for us to legally ride in our area. This article was in todays newspaper. I'm finally glad to see we have outside support in this area.

I'm sure people think we are too noisy or make a mess, but apparently they have never had the chance to ride b4, thats why I'm glad to see even if the people are pissed, we are getting the support we need.

Atleast there not a bunch of old bags with nothing better to do then to sit around and complain. Its good that they are trying to help us out instead of just girping. Hopefully more people will follow suit and mabye we can get something done because saying we cant ride anywhere and then not giving us anywhere to ride will just provoke the troublemakers that ride to tresspass more.

I love the part in the article where Crankshaw gives the nod to the commissioners for "trying" to set up a park.  That was pure comedy.  Dreth and a few others on here can attest to the fact that the commissioners wanted no part of this deal.  The whole idea was brought up by past commissioners and the fellow that managed the airport.  There was a Steering Committee that met quite often nailing down all the specifics.  The concerned citizens who spoke out against the ATV Park at the meetings numbered about a dozen.  There was standing room only at most meetings when this was a topic, many families showed up for the park. One fellow asked when the last time the whole family sat down at the golf course for a picnic like we do when out riding.  That is one of the best points that I can remember.  Petitions signed by several thousand people were presented in FAVOR of the ATV Park.  It got as far as sound test for the neighborhood, which were favorable.  The naysayers were actually members of the Planning Council.  Imagine that!  SHUT DOWN!  Then the hurricanes came and they pushed it aside and conviently rewrote history.  They tried?  I don't think so.  The current commissioners are very busy cozying up to the tree huggers with one arm and the developers with the other.  They have no room left for us.  Wishes are nice, but dont hold your breath.

I'm completely sick & tired of the people coming thru this area taking out any open fields or woods to put up "inexpensive homes" sorry, but for me a 1bedroom 1 bath 900sq foot appt. for $150-200K is not inexpensive and not worth the time to build, leave us a place to ride.

Sorry guy, but according to projections, it is only going to get worse.   Unless the land is bought out from under them, buidling will continue.  The county will continue to keep the zoning to restrict ATV usuage and our roads will continue to be overcrowded and lack maintenance.  The schools and law enforcement/fire services will continue to be under budgetted.  You can vote them all out and then you will play the same game, just with new players.  How sad.
