chuck, does the 1993 powerstrokes have this same transmision?  my father in laws tranny just went out in his 1993 ford.  3rd tranny he has replaced.  I will try to find out, because he will be in the process of replacing the tranny within a few weeks.  Are these tranny's available yet?

I am pretty sure the pwerstroke came out 94.5.  If you Father-In-Law's truck is a 93 & has a 7.3.  It is a IDI International.  If he has the 4 speed tranny (E4OD if I am remembering right) those are a weak point.  From everything I have read they do not hold up to well.  The C6 3 speed is a better tranny from what I have read.  Never had the 4 sp. though.

the 93 needed many upgrades from the E4OD, they went from a 3 pinion planet to a 4 pinion planet. and then to the over all 4r100  Look on the right hand side of the case for the tag numbers  or PM me your VIN numberI will check for you in the AM if they can be interchanged with some modifications. I dont think they can.

the 7.3 IDI Started as the up grade from the 6.9 IDI  93 and 94 are a split year the options for the Powerstroke and or the 7.3 IDI and IDIT. The differences are clear being a direct injected and turbo charged but none of the parts will interchange from the IDI to the DI.

Have not seen the 6.4's yet I have my fingers crossed that FORD actually did sufficient R&D before the release of another flopped Diesel

Right on.  For some reason I was thinking it only 94.  You could get turbo on the later IDI years too.  I know the parts won't change, not even close.

Couldn't agree more w/the flopped 6.0L.  But I work at a Ford truck dealership in Orlando and have been noticing a dropping trend in how many of the '05 and '06 6.0L's we've been seeing down in the shop.  Owners keeping up on the oil changes (5k or hrs) and fuel filters (every 15k) are an absolute must and will help keep these trucks on the road.

I believe Ford has been doing extensive research on this new 6.4L-the release date has been pushed back at least 3-4 times that I can recall!

I don't know if Chuck had already mentioned this, but when you buy a reman transmission at a Ford dealership-no matter what model transmission (up to medium duty I believe), the transmission comes with a 3yr/75,000 mile warranty (parts/labor)!!

what is the retail cost from ford.  I think that is the real issue, COST.  could be wrong.  if i am going to put a tranny in my truck it will be BTS or suncoast and Chuck and I discussed this on friday.

Smoke and any other members that can benefit from the use of the HD Tranny's I can probably do 10% over the cost mentioned above plus your core.. Keep in Mind you care must be empty and rebuildable(EMPTY as in no fluid left in the case or converter) delivery wil be extra.
