registration questions

Last time I was down at ONF (thanksgiving) I rode hard all weekend well the ranger finaly cought up with me and asked were my registratin sticker was, and I told him I dont have one I'm from Georgia he said that I still have to have one.  Well prior to actually going there I contaced the FLorida OHV  office and talked to a very nice women, she stated that since Georiga dosnt require us to register our machine and I am a true Georgia resident I do not have to register in fla. Well after tell the ranger this HE went off on me!!! I was like WTF?! thats what they told me! he called me a lair!! I cant remeber the actuall rangers name, but trust me I wasnt down there to get into trouble, I went down there to have a good time. What is the deal? do I need to register? MY R has no vin to it, I completly built it from scratch with a frame from a junkyard, the vin was rusted away, so what should I do?

Have proof that you are a Georgia resident, i.e. driver's license, registration.  Have them on you as proof, do not expect someone to believe you if you don't have them with you.

I got 2 stickers in the mail. The green one shortly after I bought the quad, then a yellow one about 2 months after. The yellow one is just like the one for your car license plate with the quads VIN on it.


Which one do you have to put on the bike? Green or yellow?

I'm not sure, but if the yellow one is small, I believe it goes in the middle of the green one, and the green one goes on the left rear fender

Loven-It - They both go on the bike, the green first the yellow in the middle. The decal should go on the left rear quadrant of the plastic fender or frame, it must be visible for outside inspection.

Out of State - If your off highway vehicle does not require to be titled, then proof of ownership is a dealers bill of sale, or the registration from that state, (if applicable) and a bill of sale from the seller to the purchaser.

The certificate of title, the off highway vehicle registration (if applicable) or bill of sale submitted as proof of ownership must be in the name of the applicant or must be properly assigned to the applicant.

Sometimes when people don't understand and are just trying to do a job, tempers flare, and sometimes we are just at the wrong place at the wrong time. I am not saying the ranger was right, but sometimes things are just taken the wrong way. Sometimes we all have bad hair days, and maybe next time you see this person (ranger) it won't be so bad.

  hmm, another point to bring up to Rick when I get that face-to-face...Rangers are the Forest's contact with the public that pays their salary. The Ranger should have known the law better than the visitor.

  I had worked in public service positions for over 10-years. No matter what kind of "hair day" I had, I never felt I had the right to "go off on" anyone, let alone call them a liar. That Ranger could use lessons in how to deal with the public properly!

  I would advise you to at least buy a new frame with numbers on it.That way, you can register it.If you get caught on a quad without numbers, they might think it's stolen , and take it!!

That's fine I hope.Just remember, what goes in Georgia may not go here.Florida has a way of making their own regulation.If your in Georgia, then you won't have to worry.Taking chances like that here could be a loss. The extra effort could save you the hassle.Just a word of caution!!

Make sure the documents have have your name on them with an address, and make sure it matchs your license. Same name, address, etc.. Just because you have a document signed by Georgia Dept of Motor vehicles, if your credentials are not on that piece of paper there is no way to prove that machine is yours.
