Was thinking about driving up from west palm to watch the launch on thursday. Where is the best place to sit on the side of the road or beach and watch? Easiest? Don't want to get too bogged down in traffic.

Any place along US1 in Titusville is great.  Also there is a park along the water on Garden Street that is a great spot.  Allot of the locals hang out there and tailgate during launches.  Get there early to get a spot.  Night launches are very popular.

I like Ponce Inlet. Its just south of Daytona on the island. Big beach and a great view. Not as close as some others but always nice

You could try looking at the launch from Uranus.

I only went to watch one launch so far. Went to the main gate of the place at 3am, and was third in line.
By 7am there were hundreds of cars as far as you could see down the road.

It was great to say the least, you could feel the power hit you in the chest.

When it was all over, we fried bacon and eggs, coffee and toast. By the time we were finished eating and putting
everything away, all the other people were gone.

A launch is a must see event.

if you dont want traffic dont come. there will be cars everywhere in titusville and surrounding. the BEST spot is on the water. if you have a boat, put it in in titusville on us-1 or garden street. that is awesome. you cant get to the beach in titusville cause it is like literally 500 yards from one of the roads. that is the gets really hot, deafining zone. cocoa beach is too far from there. our house is where we watch cause we live close.  Grin

Used to do subcontracting for NASA. One time we were vip guests & watched it from less than a mile from the pad. It was a 3:50 AM launch, looked like the sun rose in Titusville it was so bright & the thundering roar of power was mindblowing. A night launch is a must see at least once in your life. Traffic was the worst thing I ever dealt with all the way Back to Orlando area, all the interstates were backed up. If anyone is going you will see, best leave very early or you will be waching from your car on the road somewhere.

I'll be anchored up on the boat in Ft.Pierce inlet. Watched the daytime launch July 4th weekend from there, and it was incredible even from way down in Ft. Pierce.

Yeah we anchored off in Lake Kerr in Ocala for the last one. You could actually hear it way after it launched. Never seen one really up close like that though.

It's true it's cold weather here and that cold front coming down
from our area up here for tonight here.. It's pose be in teens for lows
tommrrow night  up here in live oak area around here.

I'll guess we have to wait untill thoses cloudys
clear tommrrow night if launched isn't postponed tommrrow night.

I have seen two shuttle launchs all my life in florida i have seen
down hollywood florida many years ago down in I95 area and
back in dec 1991 in mayport florida  they look like orange fares streaks
in skys at night depends where you lived at..  Smiley

I made it out to just West of I-95 on highway 50 and had a good vantage point, so my dad and I pulled of the road, I set up my camera and waited,,,,,for the scrub.

oh well, I'll be out there again.

NASA will make a second attempt Saturday to send shuttle Discovery and seven astronauts aloft on a complicated mission to rewire the electrical system that powers the U.S. side of the International Space Station.

Liftoff now is slated for at 8:47 p.m. The weather forecast calls for a 70 percent chance that high winds or rain showers would force another delay, but NASA officials are hanging on to hopes that conditions could clear up enough to proceed with launch.
