Ok, who built and sold the first "ATVs" as we know them today? Was it Honda with the old ATC70?

Depends on what you classify as an ATV. Honda's first ATC was the 90 which was introuced in 1969 as a 1970 model. One piece rims and tires, fiberglass fenders. Neat bikes. Had one in the barn up until 3 or 4 years ago.

technically, even though a three-wheeler is commonly called an ATC (Which is just a Honda trademark BTW) they are still "ATVs" and therefore Anorginal would be correct with the 1969 Honda US90 being the first ATV. Suzuki was the first to build and mass produce a quad, I think it was the LT185 in 1984?

Read an article a little while ago. honda started with the 3 wheeler. but it was suzuki, first on 4 wheels. they were the first to mass produce the 4 wheeler. but back in the 80's you could buy the 3 wheel to 4 wheel kit to convert your atc to a quad.it was very expensive though. i ended up just staying on 2 wheels till i got older, much cheaper that way!!!!

I could swear it was the 70 with the cool balloon tires.
I have an early 70's atc90 in my back yard
somewhere.
That thing cut more trails and killed more mud than my 4x4 Vinson ever will!
You sure could get them unstuck by yourself. Smiley
