Mods - Can this be a sticky?

I've gone through and made a list of all the counties in Florida. The links for each county are directed to the contact information for the county commissioners in each. Call and e-mail the commissioners in your county and tell them how you feel about the law coming into effect in October... or anything else you feel you need to talk about (especially regarding ATVing). Some of the websites even have a link to where you can send all of the commissioners in the county an email at the same time.... NO EXCUSES!!!

Here is the quote of that law for reference when contacting commissioners:

F.S. 316.2123
"to allow "ATV's" to be operated during the day time hours by a licensed driver or a minor under the supervision of a licensed driver on un-paved roadways, where the posted speed limit is less than 35 mph.  The driver is required to provide proof of ownership if requested by law enforcement"

left out
"However, this bill authorizes counties to exempt themselves from the provision contained in 316.2123, F.S."

Thanks Smiley It only took almost 2 hours, but it was well worth it, lol. I swear, every other link I clicked on was a dead end, who would have thought finding such basic information would be so tough?... But it's finished so I'm happy. I just hope everyone will use it now Smiley

Fired mine off to Marion county commisioners,,,,ALL of them.

As a third generation citizen of Marion county and taxpayer, I ask that you all consider keeping this law in force once it becomes law in October.

F.S. 316.2123 "to allow "ATV's" to be operated during the day time hours by a licensed driver or a minor under the supervision of a licensed driver on un-paved roadways, where the posted speed limit is less than 35 mph. The driver is required to provide proof of ownership if requested by law enforcement"

Thanks, For info out there. Smiley

I'm over in suwannee  county  i don't know about new  law atv is passed here yet,

I heard Columbia county  Opt out last 4weeks ago, and they all banned atvs riding
on unpaved roads in whole entired county. I know if alot counties in florida will OPT this iuess
and alot atv companyies will file lawsuits action againest each county commissioners
by each  florida counties will be sue for it becuase,if they don't make enough atv sales during upcoming years, then all atv companies in world will sue theses people in near future if they keep forcing each counties opting out in every county in florida. Thats what i think whats going happen for untilled 2008.

I think state knew what they were doing with new  atv law the way they write it to get our atv riders banned in whole state of florida to use term in another way, let everybody ride freely
for few months and then other thing try ban them on in each county on unpaved roads. It could be the way state use dirty backstabing term on  whole entired atv  community in state of florida!!!  Thats What i think what happen there in my own suggestion what i'm thinking what happen the way they wrote new atv law for 2006.

The state of florida knew what they were doing with new atv law bescuase
they knew our weak spots in atv community world and Thats what i think what happen from there. Undecided

Thanks,
American Highlander   Cool

I wrote commissioner Salter up here in Santa Rosa County, after reading an article from the local paper back in Dec. He said he was unsure about opening the roads up to ATV riders. Saying that would lead to a lot of storm water runoff. He proposed an atv park in the northern part of the county north of whiting field. He added he was to busy right now and will address the issue at a later time. I sent an email (from which I never got a reply from) to work on a solution and let us know his direction. Either open the county up for a trial period or get the plans for this ride park.

We Can Ride in Santa Rosa County. There was a hearing on 9 Aug 2007 and majority rule won. Under the rules of the FL statute we can ride. I also have heard Okaloosa and Walton county has said yes to the law. If you do live or are coming to Santa Rosa county please be responsable, be safe and if you see someone being stupid, confront them or turn them in to law enforcement. Please don't ruin this for the rest of us.   Thank you
