Ok well im looking to buy a new bike in the next couple of months and was wondering which would be the best one to buy. I ride mostly the trails and sandpits in ocala but also like to goto mx tracks every now and then. Also keep in mind i am a big guy around 6'4 250lbs. All opinions are appreciated.

nothin beats the balance of a 450r when jumping ,nothin beats the torque of a raptor ,nothin beats the way a yfz smoothes out the rough stuff.top end on the stock 450r is the best ,a raptor is a little light on the front end for climbing hills ,a yfz450 will wear your throttle finger out on the trails, bottom line is what you like the best and the majority of riding style youll be doing. For mx get a 450r or the yfz450

if you ride trails alot more than mx get the rappy. especially as big as you are. i ride a yfz in the trails and occasionally on a mx track. im 6' 1" 180 and like the yfz fine. the 450r has more room for bigger folk. the rappy is the biggest and has awesome torque. prolly better for the trails cause of size and clearence and all that and it was built for that unlike the 450s. the yfz is not the best bike for trails. i dont think a 450r is either but i dont have one of those. the 450s are faster but whatever. just my $.02.

ive owned a raptor and now have a yfz 450. i am a big guy-6'1 300lbs.  the raptor was torqie and front end light(wheelie machine) the yfz is balenced and turns great. from what i have read the trx 450 is very tippy. if you ar gunna ride trails alot and only a little on the mx track go with the new 07 raptor it will have new fully adjustable shocks(like the 450) all around and most important for the trails, reverse. if you think you will ride 1/2 mx 1/2 trail then a yfz or trx will suite you better. the 07 yfz will have fully adjustible shocks with high and low speed adjustments(killer).  from what i read the trx will need a small amount of upgrades to get you where you want to be , but is supposivly has the best power.  good luck with whatever you buy. hope this helps.

It seems like youll love the Raptor 700, Your figure would fit perfectly on the 700, The 700 is the king of trails-Electric start,Reverse, EFI. And last but not least, you could still take it to mx and have a ball.

if he mainly rides trails why would he want it wide? you would feel the most comfortable on the 700 but performance wise i'd go with the trx.  I have a yamaha so i'm not being biased it's just they perform and hold up that much better when stock.  Oh and please don't get a 400ex.... why take away the extra power? especially with you at 250lbs

i'm 6' even and 280lbs  (aka fat kid) have a trx 450r it it hauls a$$ with my big ole self on it .all the mods ive done was an alba exhaust k&n and jetted for pipe intake combo and I walk away from a raptor 700 with yosh exhaust with a lighter rider ,they get me through first gear and then its over. But I do like the suspension travel of the raptor expecialy on slower trail rides when you cant just crest the woops.

I find that severely hard to believe, my friend has an 05 TRX450 and me on my Raptor 660 walked him terribly. So bad that he  felt like sh*t afterwards.... I'm sorry but 450's  aren't everything... Wink

it all depends on rider skill. not to brag or anything but i would smoke most of you on a 300ex. lol. j/k. dont go off on that. anyway if you dont know how to ride then a rancher might hang with a 450 for a while. you never know. ride the 3 bikes and then decide. you can ride my YFZ for 100 bucks and if you like it then buy it and ill give you 300 off to buy it. I not taking an offense, just stateing facts. My friend knows how to ride. When we both had blasters stock it was a dead even race. 450's are way too overated, this is my opinion so don't start flaming slurs at me. Thanks Yamaha72  Grin
Even when I ride 450's not just a TRX they all don't feel as incredible as everyone says, they just don't impress me too much. Im not saying that my raptor is superior, just saying that they dont fell as good in my eyes as they should for being top of the line race bikes thats all, have a nice night....

man I'm sorry I even posted now. all this baby b.s. .But I will reinterate the raptor is not as fast (not saying that it's slow) as the 450 r It does have more torque but also weighs more and does not rev near as fast,I do like both bikes however and do not feel biased towards either  one I belive one is better suited for one thing and the other is better suited for another thing.

In my opinion (and this is just my opinion), I think that all of them are slow. All the bikes are overated. I have riden them all and they all feel slow to me. When I was going to get my raptor 700 everyone was like, man that is way too much bike for you, even the dealer was like, "Are you sure you can handle this bike?".  When I finally rode it, I was like "Is that it?"  I have raced many bikes and have eaten them all up on my Raptor but it just doesn't feel fast to me. I know, I know, maybe the other people didn't know how to ride and all that jazz but everyone says my bike is fast. I just don't think it is. Maybe it is just me. Dunno

set them straight! after riding a CRF250R the quads are all slow. you go find a tricked out CRF or and 4 stroke race bike and ride it. when i got on the yfz i was like this feels slow. really slow. i know they are fast but no comparison to a crf or crf type bike. if you want pure speed get a race BIKE not quad. if not then get a quad. i literally had to hold on to the crf to stay on. you literally slide back. i found myself on the front of the rear fender! im not kidding either. same with the drz. i never slid off a quad.

incase you did'nt see the front page of this site. this is an atv site. dirtbike opinions are not needed.and for the main topic with your hieght and weight the raptor would fit you the best for trail and some light mx. but if you start jumping and riding hard. invest in suspension that is the best upgrade you can do for a quad.
