Check this video out.  This is from the bike race this past weekend where the quad scramble is going to be.  This is a single lap.....runs for 25 min.

I'll be there, allthough from what I've heard its not your typical XC course. I like it tight and technical but this track is open and fast. We'll see.

From what I see, several parts of the course doesn't look to quad friendly. Maybe it is just me. Dunno

They might use some of the same course, but not all of it. They ususally make it tighter in spots for the dirt bikes.

Yes, you caqn just show up and race. You will need the following
Helmet, boots, gloves and goggle

You will also need

FTR membership........................$50
transponder for scoring...............$20
Racing fee................................$40
gate fee...................................$10

Plus you will need numbers and maybe a backgrond color to match you class. That stuff can be purchased at the race. You go once and you will be hooked.

You know, I certainly wouldn't mind trying this out, but $130 to try it out?

That's what it costs for me to go to ONF for two weekends!

Hey guys! Here are some pictures of what it was like around the pits and what-not. Here are some videos of a couple of starts.
Ida, today was a fun run where you could have tried it out for $25 and ride all day instead of 2 hrs.

Id@

I went to the fun run on Sunday as well and one time around was all I needed. That course beat me and my buddy up so bad that we thought we were being punished for something we had done in our past..lol. If your bike is not hooked up with some quality suspension I don't think many would enjoy it. Put it this way, if you think Croom is bad because of all the whoops, take one ride on that FTR course and you will think Croom is the best place on Earth!

LOL, Fun Run. Thats no fun on that course. That course was beat up bad after 2 weekends in a row of scrambles. I can't ever complain about Croom being whopped up and tough to ride. I made it 4 laps in my race. Im paying for it today. But I'll be at the next quad scramble Smiley

Man, all I can say is THANK YOU for being honest.  I ran on Saturday and even though I could have kept going, I said to myself that this was not even remotely fun.  The course beat the holy living hell out of me.  One lap and I said there was no reason to keep going.  To my own credit, I passed 7 guys and was passed by 4 but this old soul wasn't going to keep that pace much longer and I couldn't see any reason to beat myself up anymore than I already had.  To you A class riders that were still hauling ass while I was rolling over... my hat's off to you!  I did talk to an AA rider that quite after 2 laps (his quad broke).  He had run during the HS last Saturday and said the course was really nice then but yesterday it just plain sucked.  I couldn't agree more.  Looking forward to the next race, though.  I really need to start exercising my forearms more.  They were so pumped I couldn't hardly work the throttle anymore.  One thing for sure, though.  I won't forget to put the air box cover on next time.  After going through the creek, my bike ran like crap for the rest of the lap.  I think that wore me out more than anything with the power surging on and off so much.  Anyway, first real race and looking forward to more.  Any suggestions for dialing in a suspension?  Before the race, I had heard that the cousrse was really rough and considered dialing back the compression but I'm not sure that would have been the best approach.  I'm running Laeger +2 with TCS long travel shocks.  Still have stock rear suspension (I want to have the TCS upgrade done to my rear  -  what about linkages and/or longer swingarms?).  Open to suggestions because I really think I'm going to like running the quad series.

Glad some of you that have never been to one of these, decided to make the trip and give it a whirl!
It is a challenge of skill, endurance, preperation, and luck. I must say, that was the absolute worst I have ever seen a course. We rode areas during this race that were motorcycle only last week. If I ever hear how "quads tear up the track" again, I will slap the whoop de doo right out of them!
It was like a 2-3' chop out there.
Most every quad scramble from here on out will be on virgin trails. Last week was like that and was NOTHING like this weekend.
Anybody see that rattlesnake in the trail during practice?
As for the fun run, you guys should have been more creative and made your own trails. There was a LOT of land at your disposal Smiley
Myself, I figured I'd better go as fast as I could over those bumps. The faster I went, the smoother it got.
Diggin, if I were you, I'd get that rear shock taken care of p.d.q. Smiley
GT Thunder for me. I sent my three shocks to them and had them back in 5 days from the time I sent them!! Talk about turn-a-round time! I also bought, and recommend, the XC rear linkage.
I also recommend as narrow as you can make your machine and get a steering stabilizer.

I would have to agree the track was brutal. You can't judge the series by that track. It was the worst I've seen since Titusville of years ago. If you raced the last race of the day, I'm sure you saw me sitting on the side of the trail. I threw my chain about 6 miles into the first lap. I was there 3 laps before I even saw a sweeper. I finally was towed out after 4 different people stopped. I'll be ready for the next one.

I must have seen you. There were plenty of bikes on the course that had problems. Mine kept throwing me over the handle bars. I'll be at the next race.
