Reminder:  public meeting in Ft. Myers on Monday, Sept. 18 and in Okeechobee on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006.  Please share your local knowledge of existing and future recreation needs with the CERP Master Recreation Plan team.

 

IMPORTANT:  THERE HAS BEEN A CHANGE IN THE LOCATION FOR THE FT. MYERS MASTER RECREATION PLAN PUBLIC MEETING ON MONDAY, SEPT. 18.  The new location is:

 

Location:      SFWMD Lower West Coast Service Center

                        2301 McGregor Blvd.

                        Ft. Myers, FL  33901

Date:             Monday, Sept. 18, 2006

Time:             6:30 p.m.

 

Location:      Okeechobee Civic Center

                        1750 Highway 98 North

                        Okeechobee, FL  34972

Date:             Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006

Time:             6:30 p.m.

 

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and South Florida Water Management District will host a series of meetings throughout the CERP region to present an overview of the Everglades Master Recreation Plan (MRP). Maps showing project locations and potential for various forms of recreation will be on display for information and discussion. 

 

Additionally, the Corps and District invite the public to share their region-specific knowledge of:

 

·        Existing recreation conditions                     

·        Emerging recreation issues             

·        Future recreation needs

·        Recreation trends

 

Information provided by the public will be used to help develop the Master Recreation Plan.  The Master Recreation Plan will provide guidance regarding recreational uses and facilities on CERP project lands that are compatible with restoration and project goals.
