Before you go and make fun of the man who died, maybe you should get the full story. (click link below)
Or, if you are too lazy to click the link, whick it seems most of you are since you go on with ur "LOL he died" jokes, I'll copy the article for you.
"COLLIER COUNTY: Deputies with the Collier County Sheriff's Office reported that a 26-year-old man has died after trying to jump a 92-foot-wide canal on his ATV. But his father believes that there is more to the story.
Officials say that Chad Wilson was riding his ATV home from a friend's house only a few blocks away. His father, Harold Wilson, had to fight back the tears as he tried to tell the story of what he believes happened.
"He was trying to stop and he overshot his driveway and was trying to stop," said Wilson. "He's my buddy, my friend. We spent a lot of time together."
Chad's father said that some skid marks prove that Chad tried to brake before he hit the canal. But deputies say Chad had to have accelerated to have made it as far as he did. He was going fast enough to hit the embankment on the other side of the canal.
"He made it about 92 feet into the canal and unfortunately, ran into the embankment," said Kristen Adams with the Collier County Sheriff's Office.
But Chad's father just cannot believe that his son would have purposely tried to do something so foolish.
"Why would he want to jump the canal at 11:30 at night, by himself, in the rain, and it being dark?" said Wilson.
Regardless, Harold Wilson is now left without his son - a
Barron Collier High School and Edison College graduate, a man who loved to fish, and man who even helped his dad start their own contracting company.
"He was my buddy," said Wilson."
Deputies say Chad wasn't wearing a helmet and died of severe head injuries.

That's rather presumptuous on your part to say I didn't read the article, when I in fact did read the article, both the original and the updated. But I appreciate your concern for my laziness.
I don't know what happened to Chad, and neither does his dad apparently (based on the video you provided). But I will say this, if you're riding in an area you are familiar with, (next to your home) you don't tend to forget about a 92' canal and make it almost all the way to the other side by hitting the brakes.
And I'll stick by my statement which you didn't quote. WTF was he doing riding at night without a helmet and trying to hit a jump of 92'? That's Frickin' INSANE (Which is a nice way to say THAT'S PRETTY F*CKIN' STUPID)
I'm not going to sensor my posts or my opinions because YOUR offended by someone telling it like it is.
- Peace out

Lets get back to the basics here. He was an adult NOT WEARING A HELMET ( his choice ) and died from traveling 92 ft , crash landing and SEVERE head injuries. To have been traveling 92 ft after a jump ( reguardless if it was on purpose or not ) means he was traveling at a high rate of speed. Its a tragedy yes, but no helmet means no reguard for his safety or respect for the machine he was riding. If you are gonna ride ATV's at high rates of speed and do crazy things then wear safety gear, It does increase your chance of living after a crash.
Riding beyond your abilities + no safety gear + high speed = possible injury or death

We live in a free country and if somebody wants to do something that we would think as nuts then they can do it. Of course you live (or die) from the consequences of said action. I commend the family for not hiring a lawyer and trying to find somebody to sue like alot of people do. That would disgust me. He made a mistake and died that's it. Kind of like the guy who pulled up to the grand canyon to take a look, got out of his car, forgot it was in neutral and his three kids went over the edge. Mistakes happen.

Yea mistakes happen, which is why I dont think people should make fun of him. He slid into the canal, there was no "jump" for him to jump. People make mistakes all the time, sometimes the consquences are a little ruff. It's like if a guy wasnt wearing a seatbelt, got in car wreck and it resulted in him getting paralyzed. "Oh well its his own fault he wasnt wearing a seatbelt" would you go make wheel chair jokes to his face?

NOBODY SLIDES 92' ACROSS WATER INTO AN EMBANKMENT ON THE OTHERSIDE, NOBODY.
C'mon man, I know you gotta be a little smarter than that.
Secondly, I think you're missing the point that we're bringing up the IRONY of attempting a 92' jump without a helmet, not that someone died on an ATV.

It's sad something would happen like this. I could easilly see something happening like this if the brakes wouldn't work and you didn't have time to bail.
