  http://www.crossroadsmotorplex.com   Jasper, Fl.

* 1/4 mile clay oval, slight banking.

* Gate fee $7 (under 6 free) , race entry fee $20. Gate opens at 3pm on raceday.

* Flat track tires only, (Hoosiers, American Racers, etc) no knobbies (except Peewees).

* Idle speed to and from track (kart guys push theirs)

* Classes include Peewee, Women's, Beginner, Intermediate, and Open. It is up to the rider/parent as to which class they sign up for and should be decided based on ability and experience.

* Numbers should be on 4 locations: front bumper, rear, left rear fender, right rear fender.

* Safety gear required: boots (above ankle), long pants, helmet, eye protection, gloves. Recommended equipment: nerf bars, neck collar, kill cord, chest protector.

* Class sizes will be decided based on turnout. Heats are qualifiers for the Mains, 4 to 5 quads per heat. Starting position in the heats is assigned by drawing numbers. After two heats, top 2 points finishers advance to their A main, bottom points finishers go to B Main. In the event of a points tie, tie breaker goes to the rider who scored better in their 2nd heat. Lineup position for Mains is awarded by points from heats, ie., highest points gets gate pick.

* Trophies or plaques will be awarded.

DIRECTIONS TO TRACK
EXIT 460 OFF I-75 GO WEST ON STATE RD 6 FOR 4 1/2 MILES.
THE TRACK IS ON THE LEFT

I'd really like to do this but I don't have anything setup for flat track now...If you guys promise not to throw rocks at me I might go old school and ride one of my trikes (Just wont expect to go that fast  Wink) Chris don't know if you remember me or not, I was down at Saltsdale a few times and up at Hazlehurst with Ronnie once or twice with the 500R trike. I'd like to get together with you guys again and do some racing. Let me see what I can pull together, its definetly not that far away from me.

If you are serious about coming to race at Jasper Sept 30, LMK asap and I will make sure the track is cool with 3 wheelers.  Are you running Hoosiers or American Racers or something else?

I have Duros for the rear and am hunting a front tire right now. No choice in an 11 inch rim so I will probably have to get a 10.

Hahaha, thats the one! I'm gonna try a shorter swingarm and a wider rear axle in it and see how I fair with you guys. As long as I get it started I should be OK.  Grin I'll talk to some more local people around here and see if I can get some more people to come on out. I dont know what the Walsh boys are doing but I'll give them a call and maybe they would like to come out too.

guys be careful at crossroads....the track surface is amazingly fast..it will start out slick but trust me it gets FAST without notice...turn 4 is offcambered and has sent many racers into the fence...turns1 and 2,well lets say don't  run off the track there...maybe you can talk wade into letting you guys try the asphalt oval while you're there...

Thanks for the heads up! Have you run there before or have you heard of quads running there?? When I first spoke with Wade he didn't seem to know what a flat track quad was. I arranged for 3 guys to go do an exhibition at his track and he invited our league to come race there. It's funny you mention asphalt....as crazy as it may sound I would consider it but tires cost too much as it is. Some us us did an exhibition at Auburndale Kartway a few Friday's ago. That surface is the closest to asphalt I have riden yet and is very abrasive on tires  Cry.  Anything else you can tell us to watch for at Jasper?
Are you bringing your mini to any Ocala events?

Can I get away with a bald knobbie front tire, or do I really need a flat track tire? Not much selection in the 11inch rim department and Douglas wants 3months +$140 for a custom 10in with no offset for the front...

its cool.... put you a 10 inch wide front tire on there....it will stretch the tire some but who cares.. there is never any load on the front tire of a trike anyway...

Haha na I meant diameters...almost all the trikes came with 11inch diameter front wheels, and most quads now a days have 10s. Not much in the selection of 11inch diameters, I mean theres some knobbies but nothing relatively smooth unless I get a buffed dune tire which I'm not sure is such a good idea...

never raced crossroads with a quad but ive been there numerous time on karts..ive also made more laps than most around the ocala track and won many championships there...fyi if you thought auburndale was abrasive your in for a surprise,if your tires are the least bit too soft at jasper when the track hits you'll know it....jasper has some very good clay and will blue groove quickly...as for ocala, i would bring some of my guys to run the mini quads if you'll kind oftell me what the competition looks like..my son is very fast and i would like to bring a bike that is suitable for the competition.i like to make him work a lil bit for his wins...

Ocala resumes racing Sept 2 @ 7pm. It's hard to tell what the turnout will be like but there are two peewee classes planned. Peewee A will be 80cc and up and Peewee B will be under 80cc. Sounds like the A class would suit you better. Hope you can make it. Grin
