Alright ladies we have a name!   Drum roll please....

   Southern Flat Track League

  aka   SFTL.

So I guess that SFTL will be...Sliding Fast Turning Left?

Question: I have been to Ocala twice to run the beginer class which was real fun but since I been there chest Protectors became manatory and then FT tires for all but beginer and peewee's but now I read someware that FT tires are now manditory in the beginer class also. If this is true is it both fronts and backs?

If so that's kind of making it pricey for beginers like me who just want to run a few races when possiable. but if it's only back tires I guess it's not to bad.

Anyway congrats on the new league!

Hey Mark,
 Thanks for the post.
Flat track tires are required on front and rear in the open class, now in the Intermediate, Novice, Powderpuff, and Youth if the track will allow it knobbies are fine. but flat track tires are preferred.
 Chest protectors are mandatory.
Trust me, we all understand the money issue with tires, especially if its your first time out. I have heard of some folks using old lawn tractor tires for the rears to see if they like the sport before buying Hoosiers or American Racers.

Check out the leagues web site for more info.

There are several sets of flat track tires and tires/wheels combos on ebay right now. They are generally very affordable.

Easy, picking on my buddy Rick may come back to bite you later on. Grin
Seriously, he hardly logs on because he has a S-L-O-W computer.
Let's just all pick on quad32, especially since his computer is down, so he can't fight back. Evil

This is just an update to let everyone know how things are going with the formation of the league.
The membership drive is in full swing. The response has been great. Some new people have come on board. As a reminder, be sure to sign up asap in order to reserve your bike number as these are assigned first-come first-served when your payment is received. You can use Paypal via the league website to send in your payment (payable to powerbandperformance@earthlink.net). Make sure you declare you bike number (1st, 2nd, 3rd choice) and class you want to be scored with your payment. Also, your points will begin to count from the day your membership is paid, not before, so please don't delay. Rider points will be posted after each race on the league website.
The series schedule has some open dates. I hope to have these filled soon. Several of you want Valdosta on the schedule and I am working on getting a date there. The race Aug 19 is NOT part of the series in the interest of giving everyone proper notice. As a reminder, as of now, in this 7 race series a rider can drop his two lowest scores of the series, i.e., only your 5 best scores will count towards your series end award.
Series End: The master plan is have have a banquet and/or dinner Dec 9. The hope is to use the membership fees, track donations (yes we have worked it out with the tracks to contribute to the league banquet), and donations from businesses to fund the awards and prizes. We have already received pledges for sponsorship of the series from different businesses. It should be worth attending so mark it on your calendar.
     Watch for more updates later.

I dont think I understand the points exactly so let me ask my question...

I don't think I can make it to the first race in Ocala. If I don't, would it be better to sign up before, or after when the next race comes around? I guess what I'm getting at is, will I be scored a minus if I cant show, vs not a score at all for not registering until the next race?

Working on an ATC R that I should have ready for Jasper. If plans change and it gets done ahead of time I'll be showing at Ocala also. Smiley
