South Florida Water Management & the Department of Environmental Protection try to request another 30 day extension.  Collier County Commissioners said "NO".  Three years have passed since the agreement between SFWM & Collier County and it looks like this is going to the courts.  All 5 commissioners were on our side.

The sad part about it ...  there were only 3 OHV anthusiast, and that's including me.  We need more support from you guys.

This is the only way we are going to get our promised OHV area.

Awesome work Thrumud.  When all is said and done I will buy you a tank of gas for your ATV and a six pack to celebrate your victory.  Even though I haven't been able to make it to the meetings I greatly appreciate all your hard work and tenacity.

I went to the june meeting and was dissappointed when they were granted the 30 days.
We all knew they were stalling because there is no intention on honoring the intial deal.

As for the low turn out , a few things .

I think there may  have been some confusion with the meeting cause some said the meeting was cancelled ?.
The more important meeting was last month ,commissioners seen a room full .
I guess last and  the main reason for the low turn out would be the expectation of what just happened , they need more time. We all knew that was coming .

You are right though , high turn out is a must with some of this issues. If politicians dont see people passionate about their issues, why should they bother when they have other agendas to tend to .

Wish they would do this in Lee County. Our county commisioners are useless. We have the 74000 acres at the Babcock Ranch and thousands of ATV owners/registered voters with non riding atver friends in Lee County that could make a difference if we tried. Floridians pay regisration fees on our ATV's and should get more riding areas in South Florida. If they only set aside 1000 aces and chrged $50 yr for resident riders to ride there they would make some money to pay for it and cut the residental complaints to a minimum. You can bet that if boaters in florida were threatened to have their sport taken away there we be some people voted out of office.  Us ATVers have got to start banning together. Local resident non ATVer's should be fighting with us to get designated riding areas open. It has been a florida sport even here in Lehigh for many generations.

!!! Keep up the fight in Naples !!! Your almost there.. Grin -
