Just heard on the news a 40 year old man riding (looks like Holey lands) with his 16 year old daughter was struck by lightning and killed, she was injured, but taken to local hospital.  They showed to 2 atvs they were 10 miles from US-27,  that is so so tragic.  I hope that this is no one from this board, they said the mans name, but I am not sure on spelling, and in case someone knows him, don't want to put on board at this point.   It was the top story on channel 4 here in Broward.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the family friends, how tragic.... that poor girl, that had to be horrible.

Holeyland! It's the kind of thing that shakes peoples' faith. The man was out spending quality time with his children instead causing anyone any harm, while we have all these other miserable human beings roaming our world.

It is a very sad situation. The man that was killed was a very nice guy, I met him about a month ago when ANORIGINAL from this site came by my house with him. He was dating Anoriginals sister and had just asked her to marry him. Keep them in your prayers.

Eddie Hidalgo was to be my new brother in law as of September 30, 2006. He was a really great guy with a heart of gold. He was self made, successful, honest, a deacon in his church, an adoptive father and a great friend. I am shattered as is the rest of my family. As far as my sister is concerned; yesterday she picked out and purchased her wedding gown. Tonight she is on her way to Miami to make arrangements with Eddie's family.

Eddie's daughter was riding with him and was struck as well. fortunately, she was not seriously injured and is now with her family. Thank God.

My sister needs all the prayers and thoughts she can get. She's a strong person, but this is incredible. Please folks, be careful out there. I can't tell you how many times I've been out in the bad weather with lightning popping all around and thought nothing of it. Life is a delicate matter. Take care of yourselves and each other. I am going to miss Eddie.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers.

I'm not sure of his families financial situation but if you hear of a trust fund set up in his name please post it as I would like to contribute. This really hits home being I'm 41 and my daughters 15. It sure helps put things into perspective. Life is not guaranteed and this reminds me to not hold grudges or be mean to the people you love because you may not have a chance to apoligize. Sorry for your sister and her fiances families loss.

A friend called me today to give me the news. I did not know him but we prayed for his safety as we did not know for a couple of hours that he was gone. Her kids and his girls were close friends and she saw him at church every weekend. She sobbed uncontrollably when we found out. Eddie was always smiling, happy and by all accounts a great father to his girls. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Eddie's girls as well as Rachel and her family.

I'll make sure I stop for a moment of silence in the forest next week in his memory.

the last thing you expect is a tragedy like this.
although i never met him i am sure he was a great person and father.
i too can relate being 40 and riding with my 16 year old son.

my thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all who knew him.

Just a thought, but perhaps once arraingments are made, they can be posted on the site.  Therefore, if anyone would like to send flowers or anything.  Although I too did not know them, but it is very easy to put yourself in that situation.  Just 3 weeks while riding, a bad lightning storm came out of nowhere and let me tell you, as we all know, it is very scary thing.

But again, perhaps someone could start a thread with the arraingment information, our prayers and love go out to the family and friends of this person, such a sad thing.  May the peace of the Lord be with them.
