I keep mine locked in the garage. I have it chained to the hot water heater pipes My question, what is the best way to lock it up? I know if somebody really wants something, they can steal anything. What's better, a chain or steel cable? What about locks... is there any type that bolt cutters won't cut? Is there any type of concrete anchors that would work? Looking for some good ideas. Thanks.

My father in law has a locksmith Business and he has this chain that is very expensive , they call it "bolt cutter notchers" , because they will put a notch in the cutting blade of a set of Bolt Cutters as opposed to cutting the chain. Locksmiths have all kinds of neat things.

I have braided steel cables locks and chain. I have had 2 attempts on my stuff and both times they left empty handed. I use both chain and braided cable. When they are to be at the camp for a few days, I will sink a Mobile Home anchor in the ground and then cable and chain everything together. You have to be Houdini to get this stuff off. Unless you have my keys. One the the braided cables was assaulted by a set of bolt cutters and they did not work. The cable just flattens out but will not cut.

cables! better than chain... like previously said, the brades of the cable will flatten before it will cut through..

Cool, thanks. I found some 3/8 vinyl coated steel cable with loop ends. Now for the lock... any recommendations on brand and where to get one? Bigger is better here, right?

If its a big lock, but made of cheap metal, I have a set of Harbor Freight bolt cutters that could snap that..lol.. go down to walmart and look at the locks and find one with a good security rating on the front of the package... it will be like a 1-10 scale, obviously get a better one.. O, remember, dont be a idiot and connect your cable to a removable part of your bike Good Luck..

I have seen little that will stop a grinder with a cuttin' disk , even grade 8 hardware . Noise is a factor but its quick.

I keep mine down on MLK in the parking lot of the Stop N Rob.
The trick is, I use some 10lb fishing line....with a PitBull named "Antichrist" tied to one end, and the other end tied around my grab bar.

I keep mine in a locked shed just outside my bedroom window. During the day, the dogs are outside. At night, the dogs are in our room and bark at anything in our yard. I also have a fully loaded AR-15 with a laser dot scope on it that sleeps right beside me. We live in a good neighborhood but if some idiot wants to try and take my YFZ, I will have no problems with dropping the dime on him and shooting him square in the butt or whatever part of him I hit. Then, I sic Cleatus my dog on him! After that, I would consider calling the law if of course my neighbors didn't do so already from the gun shots.
