The Ocala National Forest will sell Christmas tree permits November 27 through December 18, 2004 . The cost of each permit is $7.00 and entitles the permit holder to one sand pine tree from a designated area. Permits may be purchased at the Lake George or Seminole Ranger District offices.

The Lake George Ranger District office is located at 17147 E. Hwy. 40, Silver Springs , FL , 34488 . Office hours are weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Anyone wishing to purchase a permit by mail can send a personal check or money order payable to USDA Forest Service to the Lake George Ranger District address above. The permit and a map of the designated area will be mailed to you.

The Seminole Ranger District office is located at 40929 State Road 19 Umatilla , FL 32784 . Permits may be purchased during regular business hours Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will only be for areas located on the Lake George District. All permit buyers will receive directions to the tree cutting area at the time of purchase.

i used a sand pine before. they're not bad if you get a bushey one and they are fresh.

I was just telling Debbie while we were out there this evening that you can get a permit to cut a Christmas tree.  We used to get them in the national forrests when we lived in Oregon.  The permit then cost $1. Smiley
