i never said i was stock. thanks mike for clarifiying that for him

Go back and read your post.  You clearly stated you had stock gearing.  I stated speeds for a Raptor with stock gearing.  I don't care if it makes 300hp if your running stock gear ratios thats still the top speed.  More HP just gets you there faster.

i got a banshee that won't run 100 mph per hour, but you bring any rapturd, ds650, 450 on out to saltsdale and get you some of it.  Then we just see who the fastest is.  DIRECTIONS TO SALTSDALE ARE IN THE RACING FORUM.....COME AND GET IT....

thats it,,,,any of ya'll live near a real drag strip(asphalt) do the times and scan the paper you get after the run.

I think I might take my quad out to Bithlo and see if they will let me run it a couple times just to see what speed it gets.

I have hit 76 mph on my LT500R with stock gearing, and 20" Blackwaters on the levy at Holeylands(atleast thats what the GPS said).  I felt like a boat skimming the top of the water.  I think it would hit 80 on a paved road, but I've got a street bike for that.

Then your Raptor doesn't count because it has a nearly hemispherical combustion chamber. Besides, the slips are not from a Hemi car.

Wares- there are ATV's racing at Immokolee every Friday night.  http://www.immrace.com/

JeffP you are right about spocket size. cheaps way to change the way your quad rides. On the RAPTOR by changing the eng (front) spocket 1 tooth more. makes a big different on top end.

Wow !! Look  Shocked at what I started. I have wheels for the front skies of my sled for the track but seems like it would be no contest.  Maybe with a banshee Huh Could you imagine what a snowmobile engine would do in a quad. Well polaris have them and many other makes but not the same. Rotary motors....Got to love them.

Do you run the sled here in Florida? I used to have a Cougar 500, Ski Doo Mach 1, Ski Doo Formula, Indy 500, Indy 650, Indy XLT, and others (when I lived up north). You are absolutely right....a sled pretty close to stock form, would wipe the flooor with even a heavily modded quad. Snowmobiles can produce over 170-220 HP slightly modded. Factor in the weight to HP (sled engines are tourque monsters) and the means of putting the power to the ground and you have a very good time. Take nothing away from quads at all, I love em but they just won't compete. If you have never owned or ridden a sled, I highly recomend it....I miss mine  Cry

Ok went back and reread my post and nowhere in it do I talk crap about anyones ride.So dont PM me with my bike is faster than yours BS.Also nice pictures of that raptor but again no matter what you guys say a Stock raptor isnt hitting 90mph.I never said a raptor couldnt do 100mph becuase I know where
a few are that can.So relax take a deep breath and if I damaged your machismo or ego it was unintentional.

I agree with Smokin bring em to the Saltsdale track. ATV=All Terrain Vehicle, buy a street bike if you want to race at the drag strip.
There isnt hardly anywhere that you can even ride your quad wide open(no open deserts in Fl.) I dont really see the point in racing them on the pavement. Bring em to the sand drags and see just how fast your NOT.

Its just funny how often this top speed thing comes up on every forum on the internet. I was at big scrub about a year ago and there was this guy on a banshee that got to talking to us he said it would go 85mph. So we went out on the road by the power lines, guess what, his front tire was at my back tire and he couldnt pass me my GPS said 73mph. My bike is a lot quicker now, but my top speed probably hasnt changed a whole lot.
I was at North Port riding 2 weeks ago when 3 4x4 atvs and 1 raptor pulled up to talk while we were taking a break. These guys were solid rednecks all muddy and the only safty gear they were wearing was goggles. Anyway the raptor rider asked how the 450 ran and I told him that it ran just fine. My buddy knew what the guy was doing and started screwing with him" how  fast is that raptor, must be fast as hell, big ol 660 engine" "ye I think it runs about 90"
He was quite shocked when the little 450 pulled about 10 bike links on him and left him.
Dont take this as raptor trashing, this guy wasnt a good rider and his bike was stock, I'm just saying peoples bikes are not as fast as they feel.

i hear ya, i have one for ya i rode 4 banshee's i built well, i basicly stock, and the other 2 had a few other mods. with me riding, on the same patch of road, pretty close gearing, same gps, all back to back to back, they were no more than 2mph off at top speed. the difference was how fast (elapsed time) the got there...

I live here (florida) in the winter and in Michigan in the summer. It is great. I run the sled in Michigan but only in the snow twice last year. Always in the grass. I saw a post that said get a street bike to race on the track. Well my family makes great money running sleds on the pavement for shows at drag strips. If we did the norm where would people say....What is that Huh....Was that a snowmobile in Florida?Huh Shocked How fast was that run Huh? Cool

The reason I started this post was to clarify a question I had with a friend that siad his banshee was the fastest production bike and it would do 115. It is heavily modified but I did not know if it would. But I see what a two stroke can produce, so I asked you guys who know how fast these quads will go. I am very happy on my rubicon in the mud at what speed the mud will allow me. Usually not that fast. My tires are going much faster than I am. I would love to watch a few of you drag race. Tony

customrubicon, I go thru alot of quads. I build them because I enjoy working on engines. To answer your question about the fast quad. I have a 2005 Raptor 686r 50hp Quad. I hate it next time I am going to buy YFZ 450 and work on that engine. My friend Kicks my a$$ with his. Dam lawyer. And that my opinion. after reading the post from Chillinthemost I am going to try one of those snowmoblie. Have a great day guys

I don't know much but I know this... My 450 when it was stock has outrun Stock Banshees, Banshees w/ minimal mods(Pipes/Jetting), Stock Raptors, Raptors w/ minimal mods(pipe/Jetting). But all those are 1/4 miles. The Banshee w/ at least minimal mods catches me at top end only b/c of that 6th gear. I'm still waiting on the Raptor to pass me. My bike only does around 73mph give or take 1-2mph. Go figure Roll Eyes
