I have an 03 avalanche and need to know where the reset switch is for when you do an oil change so that the computer doesn't keep putting up the "change engine oil" message. If any of you know where it is and how to reset it please let me know. I went to the dealer until now since the first several were free, but at $35.00 a pop I don't think so. Any help is appreciated.

there might be one in the glove box, if there is hold it in for like 15 seconds and it will reset and if there isnt then go to like a tire kingdom or some place like that and ask them, they should know.

You have to turn the key in the on position w/o starting the truck and pump the gas petal like 5 time to the floor and it resets on my truck. Try that maybe :-/

I've got a 2000 Z71, turn the key to on, not start, then push the gas down 3 times, then turn the key off. That resets mine.

Listen to Moose and bluesman. You should turn the key to on, press gas 3 times and it should reset. If you ever have a problem with anything, check the manual first, there is an index in the back of it that tells you what chapter and page its in. Also keep records and receipts of your oil changes. The advantage of a dealer is they keep your records and will tell you when your tires needs rotating, they check your filters, air, water, grease job, rear, front, belts, hoses, fuel filters and a lot that you would maybe would not do yourself. Always use an ac delco oil filter or a brand that has a diaphram in it so that the oil does not pump out of the filter when its sets for a while.

Mine is real complicated:
1. sit in the driver's seat
2. hold keys in hand(left or right)
3. lean forward till your hands can reach the windshield
4. take the sticker off and replace with a new one from the mechanic's
;-)

While scraping that sticker off don't forget to wipe under the seat where the oil change tech left some boogers after changing your oil :-/. Don't worry though the dealership don't charge any extra for that personal touch

This is one thing that Yunt and myself can agree on finally.... The misconception of the dealer being more expensive is not so true when the inexperiance of the tire store or aftermarket repair facilty continues to misdiagnose your vehicle, further costing you money with wrong parts and waste of time from work or a weekend of riding your quad. Your dealerships have the support of the manufacture to properly train your techs on areas of your vehicle that are not accessable to the aftermarket world.

One other advantage of a dealer. They can check for recalls on your vehicle and do them at no charge to the customer.

I prefer to do my own after the initial free ones at the dealer are gone. I hate the cheap places with "techs" working there after a drug test, 10 min. of training, and having an average I.Q. of 65. I don't want them touching my stuff.
