My jeep just started to make a noise today. it is like you have a plasic bag wraped around a drive shaft. only problem with that is there is nothing on either driveshafts. the speed of it has folows speed not engine rpm. i think it is more then likly the rear axle. has anyone had this problem?

your running 40's on a Dana35 rear axle right? Take the dif cover off and check out your spider gears and ring and pinion. And start looking for a ford 9 inch rear.

without really isolating the noise your really guessing. could be rear end, but
they generally make alot of racket back there. could be u-joint/yoke problem etc.
you should put her on jack stands, chock the front wheels and go thru the first two gears withsome one near the axle trying to pin point the noise. unfortunately thats the only way to do it without a lift.
