Its almost getting too hot to ride, I'm going to tear my bike down for a rebuild soon so I'm heading for the water for a few months.
I'm going to the Keys in 2 weeks for some dolphin fishing and diving. Then in July we'll be headed to Crystal river for some scalloping. Then shrimping in the St. Johns river. Then back to the Keys for lobster. So.... bring me 2 pina coladas and lets set sail.

Been going fishing around twice a week lately in the St. Johns Considering i live 10 mins from it. Gonna start going down to West Palm to deep sea fish once a week or so. Fresh water and salt water fish on a 37 foot sea ray. And the boat in West Palm is a 40 foot Contender soon to be sold for a 40 foot or so Parker. These boats are my boss's yet mine too. Ill go snap a pic of the Sea Ray.

QT's jealous.  But glad y'all are having fun.  One day I'll have my own boat.

That Seay ray is not 37ft. but it is nice. I also have a Sea Ray fly bridge that is about the same year as that. I see that it has outboards, did this guy do the conversion to outboards? I would like to convert the twin V8s in mine to twin outboards on a bracket.

Not on a tandem axle. I have a 26 ft Searay sundancer and it barely works on a tandem.

Nice boat Kid, When you taking us out on it.  Wink

Yeah were still working the bugs out of it. It was an inboard and we converted it to an outboard. Where the inboard was we put a single cylinder diesel generator for ac in the cuddy. It has a 250 2 stroke yamaha with a 19 pitch prop. We are thinking about getting a new platform for two outboards and putting two 250's on her or maybe upgrade to a 300 four stroke. The 250 right now is studdering like a carb is gummed up or the fuel line is pinched. We bought the boat as just the shell and its been a project for about a year. Errrr the trailer is 37 feet the boat is like 32 i think, i forget honestly. It may be 37 because we had to put a huge jack plate on the platform to raise the motor out of the water. But no idea, its somewhere around 30 atleast i know of. The boat is so heavy cant get the ass end out of the water. We put a set of flaps on her too. Once the motor is running good she should run nice.

If the 250 is shuddering, the carbs may be ok.  CHeck your fuel pumps.  On the right side of the motor (facing the front) there is a high pressure fuel pump the size of a cigarette case-take that off and check the diaphram.  It may have a hole in it causing your fuel problem. The diaphram is only a couple of bucks.  2nd question, what is the motor taching up too?   I have twin 225 yamadogs on the back of my 31 ft centerconsole and have the ss props stripped back to 17 pitch so I can make WOT range.  You may be overloading the motor and will tear up your wrist pins..

Plus that boat is a bit large for a single 250hp outboard, you would need to run at WOT almost all of the time to keep her on plane.  Twin 250's would be great on that setup to get the arse up (tabs help but power is also needed as they create drag) and be able to cruise off WOT (HUGE $$$ Saver).

General rule of thumb at WOT an outboard (2 stroke) will use 10% of the max HP in fuel per hr.  So at WOT this engine is burning 25gal/hr  OUCH!!!!  Wih the twins you can cut them back and maybe still burn the same but still have power left over if you have to run back in due to an injury or avoiding a thunderstorm, the 4 strokes burn about 1/2 as much fuel.  A friend just put twin 300 yamadogs on his 31' Contender and is burning about 1/2 the fuel he did with his twin 250 2-strokes.  My vote twin 300 Yamadogs   Grin

It might. I guess you could go WOT and idle around. Cool Anyway, the way gas is nowadays you might be better off with the 4strokes. But to save some major $$$ your gonna need to use it allot. If it wont be wet often then you mind as well save 10 grand.

I don't know the exact depth of his but I know the older(70's) 222's will run in 9-10" they make sweet flats/bay boats. goto Floridasportsman.com forums and you will see a bunch of them being restored and setup to run the backwater.

Those E-TEC's form Evinrude are supposed to be real nice. They claim lower emissions and better mileage than a 4stroke. Now, I am not sure about the price. Anyone run these?
