Sadly I don't have the time right now to ride....even once a week isn't doable right now  Sad

Am I supposed to winterize my quad? It still has some gas in it

A friend told me if I don't start it like every other day I can ruin the engine

Help!

Thanks, Ditto

Ditto,
It shouldn't be too hard since you guys rarely see freezing weather in Florida.

Go to AutoZone, pick up some fuel stabilizer, and dump it in your tank. After that, run the engine for about 10-15 minutes to flush it through your carbs. (You're best bet is to go for a short ride if you can).

It's probably a good idea to mix the stabilizer with 1/2 gallon of gas before you add it to your quad. This will help it mix more evenly inside your tank.

Good luck, and Happy Holidays!   Wink

just make sure you drain the carb and it should be o.k . shut the gas off at the tank, drain the carb bowl, and start it and wait untill it shuts off wich means the carb is empty. i used to do with my jet skis for the winter. also remember that when u go to start it back up put new gas in the tank. hope  this works, it work for me at least.

Haha... Thanks lt250r, I guess I left out the last step.  Roll Eyes

My bad.

Yes, after you add the stabilizer, you'll want to shut off fuel and run it 'till it dies, just like he said.  She should fire right back up in the spring. Grin

just go ride the thing haha....you cant tell me you dont have 15 minutes to kill each day...or at least 1 hour a week to ride up and down the street, slowly...with a helmet. Dont wanna give the neighbors any reason to call up "johnny law".

just kidding....those guys already gave you the instructions for winterizing a quad but here in FL all you gotta do is keep it outta the rain. lol. Winter means cold and wet it seems like. Good luck on getting some riding time Ditto!!

What Gary is trying to say here is the best way to do it is pile as much Sh^t up around the bike. Boxes, christmas decorations, halloween decorations, hell even a play house. etc. etc.  Grin

Example, here is his winterization.

You can fog the motor out, take out the plug, pour some oil in there then try to start it with the plug out, it will oil up everything real nice. Sta-bil in the tank and plug the exhaust with something so no critters get any ideas.  Its funny watching them fly out the exhaust when you go to start it next year.

The riding out here BITES

Don't worry though...when I hit the lottery I'ma buy tons of land and turn it into an ATV park
