The National Park Service has decided to expand the scope of Big Cypress National Reserve's General Manangement Plan to include an OHV management plan for its pending addition.  Appropriate use of OHVs will be analyzed for use in the Reserve and new addition.  It is important that the NPS hear form all interested and informed members of the public and as such, three public meetings have been planned to gather input.

Let's hope there's some OHV access to lands not flooded most of the year.

I went to Wednesday's meeting. they are doing a couple of studies, one is with ohs's and the other one is a WILDERNESS AREA STUDY, and this includes parts of everglades city. if the WILDERNESS prevails, no more motorized use in the wilderness part and this includes fishing, hunting, nothing with a motor can be used.....

It's quite interesting that they're even considering further access restrictions when less and less people are visiting national parks every year! Without visitors to pay entrance fees, they won't be able to pay for maintenance and park rangers, then we'll have free reign. If they were smart, they'd open up access to OHVs and increase their revenue. http://www.arra-access.com/arra/WashingtonNewsletterjune2006.html
