I would like to add a 3 in. body lift to my wife's Dodge Durango and I was wonder from people who have done it before how much work it is. Like radiator problems, transmission lines, break lines stuff like that.

I've never done a Durango but I've done a few others. Body lifts are cheap to buy but there are a LOT of little details to the install. Some vehicles look OK with and some look like crap.

The kits I have looked at have the bumper mounts to move the bumpers up. They are pretty cheap but i want it to look though

i would def. suggest not doing it i put a 3" body lift on my truck n it messed up the shifting its a 5spd n ive heard some people have problems w/ the 4wd shifter 1 dude couldn't get it out of 4 lo w/o lengthening the shifter they are also very pricey to get installed $400-$600 i tried to get the one on my truck taken off but they said it would be more than it cost to put it on call 4 wheel parts wholesalers n see what they can do tell them what size of tires you wanna run etc... they will help ya out w/ your options but will never put another body lift on my truck btw mine was supposed to come w/ bumper brackets but they werent in the box ive been tryin to get them now for months n whatever you do don't order from 4 wheel online they suck @ customer service

A body lift won't affect anything if it is done right. I had one on my old 89 S10 Blazer. I also have one on my current truck, a 99 GMC 1500 Z71. No problems here. Go for it.

I am a fan of suspension lifts rather than body lifts

yeah because to someone who dont know what their doing it looks good but to someone who knows what their looking at it aint that good. All your doing is just moving the body up as to which a suspension lift will give you new shocks which will give you better ride quality.Of course you can do both like my uncle did with his truck which came out good.

Im thinking about lifting my lightning.. Think it would look cool?
Anyways, the durango would have no problem with the driveline and brake lines coming in too short. They would only be in effect if you did over a 12" lift, even at that you would still be pretty good (but you would need longer driveshafts).

THANKS FOR ALL THE ADVICE, I WANT TO GO TO 33'S FROM THE 31'S ON IT NOW. I WOULD DEFINITELY RATHER HAVE A SUSPENSION LIFT BUT YOUR TALKING ABOUT 1500 DIFFERENCE IN MONEY AND THIS DOESN'T REALLY GO OFF-ROADING, IT WOULD MORE FOR LOOKS INSTEAD OF FUNCTION. IT'S SO HARD TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO. I JUST WANT IT TO STAND OUT FROM ALL THE OTHER GROCERY GETTERS

call 4 wheel parts wholesalers in orlando let them know what you want n your budget they will help you out n don't let the cheap price tag on the body lifts fool you theres other stuff to worry about to shifter lengths driveshaft angles a friend of mine had to get new engine mounts [welded them] save for the suspension or explore other options but don't get a body lift i certainly won't [unless it's a woods only truck] just my 2 cents its ultimately up to you
