Maybe the women that wrote the artical should be invited to the Rodman ride on the 22ed so she could see first hand how people handle their children rideing. But then everyone would have to be on their best behavyor, no rideing on the paved road, wear helments at all times and children supervised. Maybe even invite alocal TV station from Jacksonville or Gainsville. This sport needs all the good print it can get. All you ever read or see on TV is the bad not the good that is done. Just my 2 cents worth.  Huh Huh

Although there was a decrease in the most recent figures for ATV-related deaths - from 467 in 2001 to 357 in 2002, Beierle said she believes the vehicles should be outlawed - period.

"It's just a senseless loss of life and limb for no reason," Beierle said.

GUNS ARE ALREADY OUTLAWED, AND WHO HAS THEM
Now it is time for some scary stats about DR's
see as how she has such a great opinion,
Number of doctors in the US 700,000
accidental deaths by DR's per year 120,000

Now since I mentioned Guns
Number of regisitered gun owners 80,000,000
Number of accidental gun related deaths 1,500
accidental death per gun owner 0.0000188
Statistcally doctors are approximatley 9,000 times more dangerous than Gun owners

FACT: not everyone owns a GUN OR an ATV but everyone has at least 1 Doctor.

Ugh... it seriously makes me sick!!! I mean why in the heck do people have to take things out on activities as a whole? Outlaw guns, outlaw alcohol, outlaw this and that. What ever happend to INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY? ? ? I say we write her a letter wanting to outlaw her Martha Stewart Magazine subscription. Magazines give you those aweful papercuts, she shouldnt be allowed to own one. Ok, on a more serious note, I LOVE the idea of getting the media involved in the Rodman group ride. I think everyone could handle being on thier BEST BEHAVIOR for one day. Invite the lady out, invite many activists out... we need to use this and every group ride as an opprotunity to show the world that all the people involved with OHVing are not the skum of the earth and are actually well mannered, "law abiding", tax paying, free country living citizens who just love to get out and enjoy the outdoors like the next person!!! I am sorry this is so long, but just like everyone else, I am sick and tired of watching all the bad publicity about what we do and not seeing anybody getting off their butts and working on changing the states opinion. Think about it, what kind of reputation have Bikers had for so long? Didnt they get viewed as evil satan worshipers? What type of people own motorcycles? They arent just biker trash, but they are doctors, lawyers, and many other high standing citizens. They had to work thier butts off for society to change thier opinions about them, now it is our turn to do the same... BEFORE ITS TOO LATE Sad

This article disturbed me as you sky so I read the article again and found out where this Dr Beierle works interestingly enough click this link for the Shands Site
http://www.shandsjacksonville.com/physician.asp
Her name is no where on the list for pediatrac surgeons. Still looking and when I find it I will share it with  everyone so that she is enlighted on our opinions toward this subject. I have just email the hospital requesting her contact information

I like what Mike Burroughs of the FHP had to say, make the parents accountable for the actions of their children. The other day I was on US301 on my way to Tampa and I saw 2 young girls on one ATV hauling a** down the side of the hwy, no helments no shoes and the ATV was way to big for either one of them. WHERE WERE THE MOTHER AND DAD OF THESE GIRLS. If something would have happened the ATV would have been the blame not the parents or the young girls. MOM'S AND DADS' if you own ATV' take the keys out and lock them up where your children can not find them. We all know kids will be kids when the parents are away. Don't leave temptation out for them.

SkyHighT100 that is one of the good things about this site it lets you blow off steam about things that matter to us so girl blow off away.

I'm done now, sorry I went on and on. Smiley Smiley Smiley

I just read the actual article in the paper today. I about fell out of my chair when I read the comment about outlawing atvs. Who does she think she is? Run a tally on how many car accidents, alcohol related accidents, collisions with trains, plane crashes, smoking related deaths,etc...
By her logic, should we also ban planes, trains, automobiles, etc?

I guess if they outlaw ATV's, only outlaws will have ATV's. Thats when I will become an outlaw. Then I can ride anywhere I want because I would be an outlaw HEHE And they would have to catch me. Pumba, can't you see me getting it through town. HEHE
