Ocala Thunderbowl Quad Flattrack Sat 5/27, 6/10 plus other dates and news

    Just hung up with Tim from the track, here's what he asked me to pass along:

1st Next race Sat June 10 @ 7PM   NO RACE May 27  (Cancelled)

2nd he apologized for the Micro-Sprints being there on the last Sat , apparently the owner of the track Rick made plans for them to be there without checking the schedule first.

3rd he apologized for the bad track conditions in the main. After the Micro-Sprints put down so much rubber the water wouldn't soak in and the track turned to mud, again because the Micro-Sprints weren't supposed to be there. They are scheduled the 1st and 3rd Sat, we are scheduled the 2nd and 4th Sat.

4th The New Proposal: The Mini-Sprints (fast Winged Sprints) are under contract to use Ocala the 4th Sat of each month through Oct 28. This is obviously in conflict with the quad schedule. The dates that are in conflict are: 6/24, 7/22, 8/26, 9/23, and 10/28. The proposal is to run the quads the same night but earlier. Quad practice would be at 3pm then green flag at 4pm. This should also help get those of us who are an hour or so away home at a decent time and get others to there hotels by check-in.

5th Transponders: In the spirit of scoring everyone correctly (yes you Benny!) the track is considering using transponders mounted on each bike with a scoring loop placed at the Start/Finish line. The number of laps each bike completes and position at the time of a yellow are relayed to the tower so restart lineups are correct also. The cost is APPROXIMATELY 20 bucks and its your to keep and can be used at every race. Nothing on this topic has been confirmed yet. If this idea works you will be able to buy the transponder from the track at registration. This is the same scoring technique used in Hare Scrambles.

  Didnt we just talk about the transponders a few days ago? That would solve a lot of the scoring issues. Did he bring that up or did you propose that? Also the 4pm green flag would be great!

the transponders are the best way to go, no one has to worry about  a person counting laps or scoring a position.  the same type we used in RC racing.  they work great.  very good idea..

    The subject of scoring came up because Lisa is no longer doing the scoring and someone new will have to be broke in. Her job was hard because she did all the scoring by hand whereas with a laptop and transponders most of the work is done for you and you just print the results. The other headache with scoring by hand is trying to keep up with which lap someone is on if they have been lapped.

Keep in mind, superstarr was the guy who came to dade city flat track asking for the "pro class". Me, dave, tim, gary, steven and doug sent both him and his brother home packing every week. then they quit coming... looks like a repeat will happen in Ocala too.. let him run his mouth, that seems to be the only talent he has...

Whatever............Keyboard racer! You talked some smack and have had plenty of chances to show up and get WHOOPED like the nothing that you are. Tell the truth you never raced Pro, you never won ANYTHING and you have the nerve to call ALL us out? I will race you in a shootout and I will SMOKE YOU. ......Punk
