Author Topic: Bombardier is now Can-Am  (Read 7545 times)

Bet most of you youngin's never heard of Can-Am...you will now

http://atvscene.com/machines/can-am/renegade800-firstlook.html

A clip from the article:

Effective immediately, Bombardier's (BRP) is now known as Can-Am.  Not only has the company's name changed but so has the overall mind set. Upper management at BRP has given the Can-Am design team the full green light to do whatever it takes to return the Can-Am name to the racing dominance it enjoyed in the mid 70s.  “We believe that the Can-Am brand better represents the positioning of our products in the marketplace and provides the perfect platform to reach out to and attract powersports enthusiasts,” said Jose Boisjoli, president and chief executive officer, BRP.  Like other BRP brands, Ski-Doo and Sea-Doo, Can-Am's focal point is delivering machines with massive horsepower and they plan to concentrate mostly in the ATV industry.

An outlaw with an 800cc Rotax, Visco-Lok and CVT. :| The ute already beats some sport quads, this new sport-ute's going to kick butt on trails. Hope someone gets one soon so we can get some reviews.

Yikes! The Can-Am website is a porn site! Don't look, you'll be very sorry! Instead of camo, are they going to offer rainbow?

Forward. They use a TTI(R) suspension designed by Can-Am. It basicallly makes the wheels attached to two swingarms instead of a-arms so that the wheels down move butterfly which can make it hard to keep in a forward direction on agressive trails.

Yeah I'd have to agree with you rob... It's pretty ugly and doesn't look to be race designed.

Man, if that's anything like the Outty 800, it'll be able to beat a YFZ. Not to mention be a challenge for blasters.

They also said the outlaw was going to be a good woods / GNCC style bike, but they arent that great at all. The IRS doesnt help to slide the rear end around.. I wont buy the bike because its going to be really wide..

True but then again, This is mostly a trails bike like the KFX700. Too big of a motor to be made light enough for the kind of acceleration in MX.

GNCC is woods racing. Stands for Grand National Cross Country. Not to be confused with GNC.

I think you got that mixed around, unless you were being sarcastic.

We heard the same doubts when the Outlanders arrived on the scene. Today, no one who's taken the time and effort to ride one(or ride with one) knocks them. And, that goes for the 400, 650 and 800s. Their only knock is the price and although Hondas cost as much, no one complains. My 03 Outy has been ridden aggressively since new and I've had to replace a corroded voltage regulator and a seized CVT clutch pulley because of my addiction to mud. Then, last week, I replaced an $8 themostat cover. Let me see you get three years of abuse on original brake pads with any chain-driven tranny!
