help needed on cat laws
«
on:
May 01, 2006, 08:54:27 PM »
I need some advice on cat laws in Fl., We are having some issues with the " new " neighbors cats roaming around freely, climbing on my trucks and SCRATCHING the shizot out of them. Keep in mind we have two LARGE dogs that go NUTS everytime these cats are in our yard.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

I would put something on your truck such as cayanne pepper or spread some hot pepper oil on it. That should take care of the problem.

Get a small game trap...Put some cat food in it...when you catch the cat either spray paint the cat Orange or Green and let it go...
....
OR...
Drop the cage in the pool with the cat in it....

Well, the guy and I went a couple of rounds last night, Threatening me that I made a big mistake by telling him that I was gonna "live trap" them and bring them to the pound.
I would love to let my dogs have them, but I was trying to be a good neighbor, and a responsible pet owner, unlike my new neighbor.
Guess I will have some of my buddies in the "department" give him a welcome to the "south" visit.
I would like any and all suggestions, By the way chillin----- they taste like chicken

I've heard that a bow works great. Arrows are real quiet, so I hear. Your best bet is a fishing rig to ensure you get your arrow back....from what I've been told.

I had that problem in my old neighborhood. The last straw was when they started crappin on my front portch. Got one of those box traps and caught six of them in four days. Took them to the pound and threw them in the overnight lock box each morning before work.
Don't put the trap out until after everyone goes to bed and get up real early to check it. If you got one put the cage out of site until you can take the darn thing down to the pound. Also lock your cage up to a tree. Cat lovers will steal it.
Good Luck!

i did a search on google for you
When all else fails you can trap the cat in a humane way and transport it to an animal shelter. Make trapping a pet cat a last resort and check your local ordinances first! In some communities, it is illegal to trap a neighbor’s cat even on your property. Use a live trap baited with sardines or tuna spread on newspaper or a paper plate. Place the bait in the back of the trap so that the cat must enter the trap to get the bait. Check the trap regularly, preferably every hour. To keep from capturing animals such as raccoons and opossums, only trap during the day. Be very careful not to be bitten or scratched; stray or feral cats can carry rabies and other diseases. You can receive additional technical assistance on dealing with nuisance domestic cats through your local Humane Society or animal shelter.

Yeah, I told the guy last night that we were gonna live trap them , and take them to the pound. He flew off the handle and started threatening me with all kinds of stuff, this flippin idiot didnt know that a lve trap was NOT harmful to an animal!!!, he thought that I was talking about a carnivor, or " fox" type of trap ( city boy), anyway I am calling the animal control today, and some of my officer buddies to see what they can do

Just tell them that you are gonna video the cats on your cars scratching it and make him buy you a paint job. See what happens then.

You guy`s are killing me !!!!, I didnt really want to harm someones pet.
I have however talked with our local animal control, they said that LEGALLY, I have every right to LIVE trap an animal and bring it to the pound, however you cannot do harm to it.
Also, cats and dogs have the same rules, or laws9 from the animal control office in Citrus county)

Seriously, I have used live traps for coons, etc. in the past. I have a "Hav-A-Hart" trap and it works real nice. You can usually find them at any good feed store.

Take, them hual them off to beach like place called cedar key
or applachcola, I know alot boaters would love have cats to cut down rats over there.
We used have hunter dogs come on our land and sometimes
we just cross over river into mayo and drop them off in middle nowhere land. lol
My firends, down south used to haul off dogs when started killing their dogs and cats in their font yard and
they hual them off to everglades and never came back since.

I doubt he really offended that many people. Either way, I'm sure dynodon is old of enough to know its probaly not right to hit them with a hammer.
