Can anyone tell me the difference between the two types of chains...... and what are the pros and cons of each???

when i went to croom, i went over to OAS and i was talking to bob about my bike and he said definitaly get the X-RING chain, much better than the o-ring, i think in the o-ring chains if u get a lot of stuff clogged in the chain it will ruin it much faster than a X-RING, also the X-RING will last longer than an o-ring chain he said, so i take his word, hope this helped...

I'm leaning towards the X-Ring but I want to know some real differences, I know the tensile strength on the X-Ring is mouch Higher thats all I know though.....

I bought the cheapy Primary Drive steel kit, and aside from the cheay looking rust specks on the chain, I'd say there's nothing wrong with that kit.  The chain hasn't stretched on me at all, maybe a tad.  Next time I'm going to get something better though.  I got the o-ring by the way, in that kit, and I've gotten it filled with mud, where I couldn't even see the individual links, and to me it still works the same as it always has.

I stick with a good ol regular racing chain, best response and best for not robbing power. Just get a chain and take care of it after you ride and it will last. I scrub mine and everything then lube it and it has done great. The worst thing you can do for a chain is neglect. But I guess with those O-rings you don't have to be so picky.

If you have the stock chain of your 250F then yours is an O-ring chain also....

The chain itsself is what you have to worry about stretching, so x-ring or not a cheap chain will probally stretch quicker. An X-ring is just an o-ring that isnt smooth its still a circle but instead of a cylintrical (sp) circle its a X so it is supposed to seal better and keep dirt out of the barrels and lube in.   Hope that helps
