if you want a track bike get a yfz, if u realy want a track bike get a ltr450,

a z400 can be whatever you want it to be with the rite parts

rapters at top heavy and not good for jumping

03 has the weakest frame outof them all, but probably the cheapest price, 04 is the same just stronger frame, 05 bigger carb and better shocks, 06 bigger carb better shocks, the shocks wont help too much if your serious into the track becuase you'll be changing them anyways.

A hell of a lot faster....

z400 Wink The raptors are way too tippy!

and Z400's aren't. Have you even rode either???

I had the same choice to make about 3 month's ago and I am sooooooo happy with my Raptor it isn't even funny. I rode my friend's Z and was thinking to my self (man I am glad I bought a Raptor......) Raptor's are a little tippy but just buy some nice off-set wheels or wheel spacers and it will cure it.... Trust me I did it. I am 6'3 and weigh about 250 lbs. and am much happier on a Raptor. If you are a smaller guy then the Raptor might be too much to handle though.......

In my opinion I'd take a Raptor over a Z400 any day......

Z400 are very nice bikes, I was in love with them ever since their debut in 2003 but I just like the Raptor that much more

I love my Raptor. I too switched out with a friend that has a Z. His bike is real nice, I can't take anything away from it besides his Z is stock. My Raptor has a header, CT racing exhaust, jet kits and K&N filter. The power the 660 is capable of is sometimes.................DISTURBING.

To be honest, I've never had it at the track for any real air. It does real good on the small stuff around home. I have the suspension set up soft for traction on flat trails so I'm sure I'd want to tighten it up a bit if I was getting any air. I just don't see myself getting too crazy anymore......takes to dang long to heal up these days.

My Raptor feels perfect in the air and the landings..... soft. I have a 25-30 table that I jump in my neighborhood and it does fine, no problems here. The only complaint about the suspension is that it is not a fully adjustable set up.....

Heres some pics of that jump....

love it, its actually kinda hard to bottom out my shocks at the track, and if i do they dont stay bottomed out for a long time, my warrior would bottom out and stay like that for hours! lol

i've rode a few rappy's in my life, heck of alot of power, but felt easy to flip, which isnt too good for the track, but they are pretty good for trails, just a bit on the heavy side.
i find the z the best all around quad ever made.

NO WAY!!!!!!!!! Buy what you like, ride both and then make your decision.  Z400 and Raptor stock to me are pretty much identical, just add 260cc and about 40 lbs., and a taller seat height, and the POWER and thats a raptor for ya.

If you do decide to buy a Raptor, STAY AWAY FROM 2001's (they have real tranny issues...) and for a good condition 2003 expect about 3700-4500 and so on.... Check for the prices at www.kbb.com.
