Yunt2ride posted a similar thread a couple of weeks ago.

NEVER reply to anything e-mailed to you. If you have concerns, go to the company in questions web site yourself. Never use the link e-mailed to you.

I received one a few weeks ago stating that another e-mail address had been attached to my Paypal account and it had a link I was suppose to click to verify all my info.

Forward to spoof@ebay.com then delete anything like that.

Yes  Huh  if you read what I posted on the first line...I sent mine to Spoof@paypal Huh
Mine had nothing to do with Ebay.

I was just warning people that might not know about the scam.  The email looks real.

Yep, I had an email that looked like someone charged a phone to my account. First thing I did was went to paypal.com and checked to see my account history and it was not on there. I looked up their phone number and called them and was told that Pay pal will never ask for any personal information and to forward the email to spoof@paypal.com  It did not take them 10 minutes to check it out and email me back saying it was a spoof.

Mine had nothing to do with Ebay.

Ebay bought Paypal last year or so. I have gotten these types of E-mails from what appear to be both companies. You will get some of these spoof e-mails from Ebay and now people are getting them from what looks to be a real Bank. Bank of America for example.

These things look real because these crooks copy the real companies logo's and art work off the web, then put them on their fake e-mails making them look authentic.

As for getting one with your name on it, your name can be gotten from many sources. From other e-mails for example. That is why whenever I forward out an e-mail that was sent to me, I always delete the addresses that the e-mail came with so those addresses don't go out again.

Best advise again is don't use any links unless you type them in yourself.

As for Paypal and Ebay, if there is a real problem with your account and you want to find out, go to your account yourself and log in, [do not use an e-mail link!] If there is a problem, there will be a message for you there on    your account.

You don't have to explain it to ME!

PayPal will never send you an email asking for this kind of info.

I was just passing this info along, I did not respond to it I reported it as an FYI to PayPal and blocked them in my mailbox.

OK?

Dear Miss kawGIRL,

I was also just passing on advice to others reading that they should never answer any such e-mails by clicking the link sent with them.

I in no way meant that you responded. I know you did not just from reading your original post. I for one appreciate that you posted this to warn others of this type of scam. These spoof e-mails are becoming more and more frequent on the web.

I was trying, as you did, to educate others as to how this scam is being used. If I offended you in any way, I publically appologize to you. It was not my intent.
