Did you know
«
on:
March 01, 2005, 12:08:12 PM »
I was handed this today from someones email. Here is how it starts.
Did you know
This is verifiable on the Department of Defense Website
47 countries have reestablished their embassies in Iraq
3100 schools have been renovated, 364 schools are under rehabilitation, 263 schools are under construction 38 new schools have been built in Iraq
Iraq's higher educational structure consists of 20 Universities, 46 Institutes or colleges and 4 research centers
25 Iraq students departed for the United States in January 2004 for the re-established Fulbright program
The Iraq Navy is operational, they have 5- 100 foot patrol craft, 34 smaller vessels and a navel infantry regiment.
Iraqs Air Force consists of three operation squadrons, 9 reconnaissance and 3 US C-130 transport aircraft which operate day and night and will soon add UH-1 helicopters and 4 bell jet rangers
Iraq has a counter-terrorist unit and a Commando Battalion
The Iraq Police Service has over 55,000 fully trained and equipped police officers
There are 5 Police Academies in Iraq that produce over 3500 new officers each 8 weeks
There are more than 1100 building projects going on in Iraq. They include 364 schools, 67 public clinics, 15 hospitals, 83 railroad stations, 22 oil facilities, 93 water facilities and 69 electrical facilities
96% of Iraqi children under the age of 5 have received the first 2 series of polio vaccinations
4.3 million Iraqi children were enrolled in primary school by mid October
There are 1,192,000 cell phone subscribers in Iraqand phone use has gone up 158%
Iraq has an independent media that consists of 75 radio stations, 180 newspapers and 10 television stations
The Baghdad Stock Exchange opened in June of 2004
2 candidates in the Iraqi presidential election had a recent televised debate in their country recently
(OF COURSE WE DIDN'T KNOW)
WHY DIDN'T WE KNOW? OUR MEDIA WOULD NOT TELL US
Because a Bush- hating media and the Democratic Party would rather see the world blow up than lose their power. Instead of shouting these accomplishments from every rooftop, they would rather show photos of what a few perverted malcontent solders have done in prisons in many cases never disclosing the circumstances surrounding the events. Instead of showing our love for our country, we get photos of flag burning incidents at Abu Ghraib and people throwing snowballs at presidentail motorcades. The lack of accentuating the positive in Iraq serves only one purpose. It undermines the worlds perception of the United States and our soldiers. I am asshamed of my fellow AMERICANS who would rather see terrorism succeed than have a Republican President.

Makes you sick doesn't it Tony? What's bad is that the American public will continue to listen to the daily lies that ABC, NBC, and CBS put out. If you want unbiased news, watch FOX.

I agree with that also, but if we do good there than we should know about it. We can fight this war here or we can fight it there. I personally prefer there.

Ah yep... Good info, if you went to the local news station and looked through all their report things that they read off this would be there collecting dust. You could hold a gun to their heads and say read this and they probably would say shoot me first.
(you know i'm exagerating..) Anyway, listen to Sean Hannity on Newstalk 690 if you are around the Jax area.HE is no b/s and will give it to you pretty straight foward. Here is the site
http://www.hannity.com
It's a cool website and you should listen to him. Kool guy and GO CHEVY

You have the opportunity to work and pay your own bills and take care of yourself. They haven't had this opportunity untill now. If you don't that is your own fault. I'm not saying this applies to you, but usually when someone says something like this they want someone else to pay their way.

Shotgun-
I respect your opinion , but want to voice my own.
I agree that we should take care of our own first, but that is independent of a state of war. when was the last time that you took it upon yourself to feed a needy family or contribute money for someone else to do it? It sometimes takes a disaster to generate enough sympathy for someone for most Americans to act. That doesn't mean that we should neglect our own, but we can't ignore a threat that could have eventually destroyed us, or inflicted so much damage that instead od thousand living in tents that millions died. Iraq was necessary in my opinion and I am glad to hear someone post good info about what has come of it. It's a shame that the media refuses to promote such promising developments.
I do agree that we should be compensated for our efforts upon restoring civil rest to that country of Iraq. but for now we are saving tens or even hundreds of thousands over there, giving them freedom, and hopefully securing allies for the future.
I have always scoffed at sending money to other countries ahead of caring for our own first. Screw Sally Struthers and any other has been celebrity trying to make a few bucks promoting some charity that feeds others while lining their pockets first with money that could have fed even more of the hungry. We do need to take care of "us" first. In effect that is what we did by removing Sadam from power. but to walk away before ensuring democracy has taken root would be to rneder all previous efforts in vain. It would be far worse to have hundredsof thousnads or even millions dead from a nuclear blast than to have some living in tents while their homes are rebuilt.
In the infamous words of Forest Gump......
"That's all I got to say about that"
